I was going to wait to post my findings until I was able to post some pics, but AWD did such I fine job at posting her's, I will save the webspace and the delay in me trying to figure out how to post pics on here.
I started using the Edge pads for the DA 3 years ago. They were the single sided hook and loop pads. I kept running into problems with the adhesive failing, causing the Velcro to detach from the pad. There were several attempts at that time to fix the problem, but it still continued. I no longer could afford to take this risk on my client’s car, so I had to discontinue their use. I did however purchase the Edge2000 system for my rotary and never had any of the aforementioned problems. The problem was that I use my DA about 80% of the time, so I was at a loss. No other foam, in my opinion, comes close to the performance and value than the Edge Durafoam.
The Edge2000 DA system was introduced, I’m guessing, about a year and a half ago, but to me, the pad with the adapter made the DA stand too high and made it prone to tipping. I use my DA with one hand, so this thickness was a concern of mine. There were also issues with the adapter failing with this new system. So, once again, I was out of luck for my DA.
The Edge2000 DA was revamped in '06. The new version has a shorter adapter, which lowers the profile of the DA. I decided to give this version a try after being convinced by Aaron that this product was a winner. I was very skeptical at first. When I opened the package I had received, I was in total amazement of the new system. With the double-sided pads and the new adapter, the system was maybe a 1/4" thicker than the single-sided pads with a backing plate. This was well within my acceptable limits. The adapter has a fail-safe built into it that prevents failure. This was the product that I had been waiting for. The bottom line is this, THE EDGE2000 DA IS NOW THE BEST SYSTEM OUT THERE. There is no guess work with centering the pads. The double-sided pad allows you to go places that you would not be able to with a backing plate. There is no exposed backing plate so there is no possible way for an accident to occur. This is quite simply the safest pad to use.
Lastly, I would like to comment on the customer service that I received from Aaron and the crew at Dedication to Detail. This is a company that is not just out there to turn a profit. They are truly in this business to make the highest quality merchandise and customer support. They listen to problems and they fix them. Every issue that has ever been brought to their attention has been corrected. This customer server is second to none and is what kept me coming back.
If you are contemplating the EDGE 2000 DA, do not delay. It is worth every penny. I am so glad that Aaron talked me into trying this product again. Please respond with any questions you may have.
