My review of UPP PP MP and Glantz

I have not got around to testing these products with my PC yet but have tried them by hand on my black Corvette hood and here is what I found.



I tried the UPP and it left some marring which is pretty much what I expected but any marring was cleared up by the PP.



I tried PP and it worked excellent removing any marring left by the UPP leaving a glossy finish.



Next I tried MP thinking it would improve upon the PP but instead it left the surface cloudy with isolated scratches. I thought that maybe it was my rag so I tried different rags ect with no luck. I went back to PP and it cleared it up. I thought maybe I had a bad batch so asked einszett to send me a sample and they sent me a 1 oz sample (Dave from here sent me some nice 5 oz samples, Thanks Dave :xyxthumbs ) and still got the same results from that sample. I am unsure if it is meant only to be used by PC and not by hand. I am a little sceptical to try with my PC in fear that it will make a real mess. Has anybody else experienced this from MP. I did like UPP and loved PP.



I also tried glantz and did not think it qualified as a replacement for what I am using now (Z) but tried it on my wheels and loved it for that. My wife does my wheel usually and she would use half of a freaking bottle of the Zaino no matter what I told her to do so I broke down and just got her some cleaner wax and told her "Use what you want". The Glantz will be excellent for my wheels since it has a high solvent content/cleaning ability and seem like it is going to last much longer than the cleaner wax we were using. It looks better than the cleaner wax also.



So I did find a few product that I will probably be ordering from trying the samples.



Do most people use the PP and MP just as a swirl remover or do you actually use them as a final product?
 
I've used PP and MP with a pc. I had some fine marring after the PP which the MP cleaned up. I then topped it with the WG twins. It seems odd that the MP would have left some marring, maybe it was the type of rag you were applying it with.



I have GW on our other car after using MP and so far like it. Nice and slick and let's the metallic flake show well. I've only had it on for 3 weeks so I can't speak to the durability.



Come to think of it, I can't speak to any products durability. After finding autopia I've not gone longer than two months before trying out something new.
 
I've been using 1Z polishes for some time now and love them. I would not recommend using rags, instead use the handi-grip foam applicators found on this site. With these applicators MP will polish up very bright with no marring, PP will also polish up but not as well. The marring your referring to must be coming from the rags you are using, not the polish. The results are even better with a PC. I hpoe this helps.

Thats crazy ive used pp followed by mp by hand and pp always left marring but mp always took it out and as far as gw goes that is the best wax I have ever used. As far as durability goes I wouldnt now, I keep striping it and going for a better look with my pc.

Are you refering to 1Z Glanz wax?

No, Zaino. I am using Glantz on my wheels and like it alot, it has good cleaning ability and lets the metallic show through nicely.



As far as the other peoples comments I suspected to see the same things you were and was really surprised at the results I got from MP. I expected PP to leave marring, not MP but it was the complete opposite. I did try numerous rags, both 100% cotton and microfibre. I think I need to try it with my PC and a foam finishing pad and see what results I get.



Are you applying it like a wax or a swirl remover?
 
Im assuming Jesstzn is referring to your comments on "glantz"?

What is glantz ? Is that a zaino product(Ive never used the Z stuff yet) Do you mean Glanz wax from 1Z?
 
Is your MP sample pink? If not, you may have a mis-labeled bottle and you could be using a more abrasive polish than you want :nixweiss ....... just an idea.
 
Yeah, that's really weird about the MP leaving marring. I'd contact 1Z and ask them about it. I've used MP (both the pro version and the pink consumer stuff) by hand/PC/Cyclo with foam and MF and it never left any marring at all.



And it didn't even matter if I applied it like a SMR or a cleaner wax, the abrasives in it were always so mild that they didn't really need much breaking down.



Rather than speculate, contact 1Z directly and see what they have to say. But I sorta suspect the application media too. Even some MFs can mar a finish and no way would I use cotton with a penultimate-step product like MP.
 
Yep even some MFs that come in a 2 polish kit, supposedly safe for paint, can mar. Happened to me :mad: so those mfs are reserved for stuff like interior surfaces

Can you give me a link to these applicators? I was surprized how nice PP polished up and actually thought they might have been mislabeled as well but PP was green and MP pink. I will try with foam pad over the weekend. :nixweiss

If this dosen't work just go to the bottom of the home page then to care care products then Autopia car care then to towels and applicators. I've used these a lot and really like them. I'm using the PC exclusively now but will still use MP by hand with foam applicators once in a while. MP breaks down so easily and quickly it's probably quicker to do by hand with the foam applicators. Another thing regarding the marring, I used the MF applicator pads that come with the polish and they mar something terrible. I've also used supposedly "quality" MF's with a lot of marring. I now use Poor Boys MF and they are great. Again I hope this helps.
