My results with M105 & M205

I tried out my Griot's DA on a friends black 2500 this weekend. Im very new to machine polishing and this was my first attempt with black. I was happy with the results, but couldnt correct all the paint swirls. I used an orange LC 6.5 smart pad with M105 followed by a white pad and M205. I finished M26 with a grey pad. I worked on it for about 8 hours, and by far the longest part of this process was the M105. It took several passes, and I tried both heavy pressure, and light pressure. I feel like the process took longer than it could have, so Im thinking of trying a different compound, or maybe a yellow pad next type. Anyone have any opinions on this? Thanks

Looks great. I'm working sporadically on my Camry and find the yellow pad will usually take out what the orange may miss with the 105.

The yellow pads, IME, leave ALOT of marring which can be a pain to remove.

I've gotten better results with wool pads like PFW or Tuf-Buf BLW.....good cut and finishes much better than yellow foam.

Thanks, so the surbuf pads are the way to go? I guess Ill have to order some of these and give them a try. Thanks for the info

brett3xx- IMO that's not a whole lot of time when you're talking about a big black truck with hard clear.

You said it took "several passes" as if that weren't too optimal, but I've had to do more than several on hard clear even via rotary with very harsh pad/product combos. For my Yukon's initial correction (right after I bought it), ebpcivicsi used a rotary/twisted wool/Diamond Cut for numerous passes and while he sure got it a *LOT* better, it wasn't good enough for me (hey, it was my clear getting thinned down to nothing, so better *me* taking the correction to extremes than him) so I hammered it a whole lot more on top of that! Heaven only knows how much time that vehicle took, but between the two of us we spend days on it.
