My Porter Cable is making odd noises...

Just to think it started making the noises after someone told me every 100 hours I need to do a "tune-up" on the machine.

The noise happens when the machine is turned off and right before the pad/backing plate makes it's final turn, it makes a sound like there is more metal slowing down the machine rather than how it should sound (I thought there was no sound when it slows down).

Has anyone else ever had to deal with this?

What is this so called tune up? I really don't want to take the time to bring my machine to a Porter Cable dealer every 100 hours to have it tuned up, I'll spend more time in the shop than I would detailing.

I seem to recall a post from last year discussing this. I think mine has a slight metal on metal noise as well on the last revoulution. I would call it normal.

I don't recall off the top of my head, but I belive that I read in the Porter Cable manual that after every 100 hours, the unit should be examined by an authorized Service Center.

I remember thinking that it was very noisy when watching David's PC videos, but I've found my unit is relatively quiet. If I was going to be using it for an extended period of time (30 minutes straight or longer), I'd think about using some ear plugs.

At worse, call your local PC Service Center for advice.
