My Poli-Seal just arrived and....

I am planning to use it as my final polish/base coat for Jeff's Acrylic Jett. However, I read the label and it said:

Contains: Mineral Spirits (8052-41-3), Water (7732-18-5), Silicon Fluid (63148-62-8), and Carnauba Wax (8015-86-9).

I thought I have read on here numerous times that a sealant will not bond with a layer of Carnauba Wax? If so, how does Poli-Seal make such a good base for sealants. Now I am confused.

Personally, I dont think that it does make a good base for sealants, with the exception of OS. KAIO/ZAIO/Prime Strong/OP, are probably your best bets.

What happened when you tried it?

KSG, Z2, and Ultima didnt spread right, they seemed to smear over the the OPS. Additonally, the aforementioned sealants did not seem to last over OPS, therefore, I never use OPS as a base for a durable sealant. Don't get me wrong, I love OPS, just not as a base for sealants (except OS, which works great after about 20-30 mins of OPS "curing").

I tested Poli Seal and didn't find it anything special. Nice look but average durability. It also seems very oilyish.

I've had no problems using AJT over Poli-Seal. I usually wait about 20 minutes after I buff off OPS before applying AJT.

Have you found similar durability with the OPS as opposed to Prime as base when used in conjunction with AJT?

At 4 months it was still holding up on customer's cars when I re-sealed them.

Typically, doesn't a sealant have problems bonding with a carnauba wax? I wonder what it is about Poli-Seal that it is the exception.

Dear Brent:

As for Poli-Seal having Carnauba, it should not cause bonding issues since the sealants in Opti-Seal will migrate to the paint and the carnauba will migrate to the surface on top of the sealants. Many professional detailers and enthusiasts have used Opti-Seal over Poli-Seal with great results and we hope that it will meet your satisfaction as well. Thanks again.

I didn't realize sealants and carnaubas migrated as he mentioned. He only mentioned Opti-Seal but I would assume all sealants would act the same.

From that quote, I certaintly wouldnt assume hes speaking of ALL sealants, just the sealants in OS. OS works great over OPS.
