My Official Porsche Thread

I figured instead of doing seperate threads for each Porsche I would just continual add them to one thread (Is that OK to do? Mods?). So to start this off I will post up some pics of an 02 Polar Silver Turbo that a client just traded into from an E55.

First off the car has never had a proper cleaning. The wheel wells were horrible and had years of grime crusted up in there.

The Porsche guys allowed me to use a lift and then remove the wheels. I then set about soaking the wells with degreaser and blasted them with my steamer. My face looked like I went dirt bike riding after I was done :doh

I then dressed them with Protectant Plus.

Here they are BEFORE.

Pretty dirty in there but after some scrubbing they came out pretty nice.

After the wheels were cleaned (had to remove cosmoline and tar) I waxed them with PolyLack and then placed them back on the Porsche.

While the Porsche was on the lift I wetsanded the front nose piece as it had been repainted and what a crap job it was. The paint was super dull on the nose, no gloss at all. So I wet saned with 3k paper and buffed it out with my rotary, green pad and OHC at 1400 rpm's.

The main body was clayed and buffed also with the green pad and OC and then Cycloed with white pads and OCP. Paint was sealed with OCW. Poorboys on the tires and Opt Pro+ on all trim.

Now for the interior....Boxster Red :shocked Man this color will scream right out at you and always be right in your face! It was really shocking at first but after a few days of looking at it it kinda grew on me and now I think it's pretty cool. The interior just needed the leather cleaned and conditioned, carbom fiber waxed and mats cleaned. I also did the door jams and engine but the alternator needs to be replaced so I'll wait to give it a thorough cleaning when that's done.

Damn the well shot alone is work 100 bucks. Unless you told the person he will probally never notice, but that is incredible work.

Car looks great, I really like the red interior.

I can't imagine someone driving a car like that and putting up with a crappy repaint.

Magnificent job on the wheel wells--they look brand new! :bow

Did you degrease and steam them, too? Dressed with . . . ?

Thanks peeps :)

Yes I sprayed them with degreaser, let it dwell several minutes them hit them with my steamer.....burned the crap out of my wrist also :doh I then dressed them with Optimum Protectant Plus and a few shots from an aerosol trim shine in the boot areas.

Thanks again,

Anthony

Really nice job...next time you see the guy tell him he needs to lower the damn thing and get some clear side markers!

Not sure if he will lower it, maybe some new wheels and rubber in the future though, but I do know that the clear markers are on their way :)

Thanks for the compliment,

Anthony

All I can say is wow on those wheel wells. Just wow. What kind of steamer?

I have a Steamax steamer that I got about 2 years ago. It works great, 190 degrees at 65 psi, it pretty much emulsifies all things dirt :bigups

that s the best wheel well detail I have ever seen. It really looks BRAND NEW!!!! :bow :bow :bow

Thank You :)

It sure is a nice bonus when you have a lift :bigups If not then I would have had to jack each wheel up, block it, remove it, clean it, replace and then do all those steps for each wheel.

It's great on the back also....I was able to do all the lower panels standing up instead of stooping over and sure is a knee saver also.

So did you just use a simple degreaser such as gunk and than steam clean? I am wanting to do this today but dont have access to a steam cleaner...Im sure a degreaser with high preasure water and scrubing could make it look new again...

Anyways great job

Thanks :)

For this job I used Hi-Temps concentrated degreaser called "Extreme Cleaner". It can be had at Top Of The Line. I sprayed it, allowed it to soak in for a few minutes then did all the cleaning with my steamer and ALOT of mf's. It also helps to have a brush or 2 handy.

Be careful with your pressure washer as you don't want to get too much pressure in the brake line areas. So don't get really close....stay a few feet away while spraying.

One of THE best wheel well details I've seen!

It's one of the largest overlooked areas in detailing but you've perfected it!

Damn nice work.

Interesting thankyou :cooleek:

Is there any local places I could pick it up from by chance?

Justin and SilverLexus

Thank you both :)

I'm not sure about local. I do know that TOL is the only on-line source. You may check some body shops supply places in your area.

Happy detailing,

Anthony

Having been around that particular model Porsche many times, I have to tell you that it actually sits lower than the pictures show. The OP mentioned he used a lift to work on the wells. Lifting the vehicle and leaving the wheels suspended in mid air cause the springs to extend. Im sure that as the owner drove a few miles the springs settled.
