My NXT Review (vs Zaino and Zaino+S100)

I wonder why there is such a large disparity in NXT durability? I am getting 3+ months of beading with NXT, others are getting similar results, yet others are getting a month tops. :nixweiss

The only real constant is that pretty much everyone notices the initial slickness lasts only a few weeks.

oh please.... anyone who browses this forum is a car detailing nut... and we all know we all detail our cars every week, of not less.... and wax/polish multiple times per month... so why bother with the durability complaints.....

then again, i live in California... and i dont have things really to inhibit me from detailing the car like snow and rain.... so i could be biased here...

Kudos to Sal and his company for still producing the best polymer polish out there.

The best? Your sources.

A little extreme, don't you think? :nixweiss

One of the best but I would not crown it the "best" for everyone. Be it shine, gloss, reflectivity or durability.

You have probably done more product comparison and experimenting than anybody else on Autopia, and in addition have the background and training to make unbiased observations! :bow

I would much appreciate it if you would share your ratings of the shine, gloss, and reflectivity of the synthetics that you've played with. :xyxthumbs

Thanks Nick appreciate the compliment very much especially considering the source. :o

In terms of rating the fore-mentioned features of all the sealant I have used would be extremely difficult. There are many factors involved with the most being my ever-improving prep techniques and tools. Every time I try a new product I always remind myself the improved results may actually be the result of a better prep. Is product X actually better than Product B that I tried 3 years ago? Has this last product inherited a better canvas in which to display it's results? Other factors are color and quality of clearcoat. One product and less meticulous prep achieve outstanding results on my wife's black LS400 where a more intensive prep is required to achieve equivalent results on the Z28. Another factor is virginal testing. As everyone knows I try many combos because of my obsession to achieve the ultimate shine and addiction for trying something new or improved.

Another factor is ambient lighting. Cloudy day, high noon, cruise night and evening low angle lighting. I believe and experienced that many of these products excel under these differing conditions and some perform poorly.

The hardest part is grouping. What is considered sealant? Polymers? Amino-functional resins? Zaino, Meg #20, Wolfgang and Klasse. Can I include Clearkote's VM/MW, UPP, BF, NXT, EX and EX-P.

Nike, I hate to seem like I am avoiding an exact answer / opinion on your question, but I feel all of these products create excellent results in terms of reflectivity, shine and gloss. To state which one produces the highest score on all 3 elements would be very difficult and I do not believe I have all the "virginal" data to come up with a universally applicable conclusion.

What I will say, and I know this is not news to you and most Autopian, is that with Type-A inspired preparation, only Autopian driven detailers could distinguish "visually" one product's individual result from the other.

Sorry for the PC answer but I like and use all these products. The small difference between these sealants makes none of them expendable from my arsenal (adult playpen), along with carnaubas. There is some over-lap between some of these products but they all have their individual personalities that I enjoy exploring in search for that ultimate shine.

Maybe this Spring-Summer I will do a virginal comparison on the LS and let my wife rate these features. Can't get more unbias than that.

Over the last 2 years I have gotta the "Oh WOW! What did you use on the car?". That was from Souveran and recently the WG twins. I plan on topping her WG this weekend with EX-P and I will report back her response. :wavey

Wow Edwin! Four hundred fifty five words and over twenty two hundred keystrokes! I don’t think that you are a physician, but rather a politician at the senior federal level!

Actually, I was kinda baiting you - - and you have my apologies. I’m sorry for creating the blisters on your typing fingers.

As has been said many times before, “The best product is the product that works best for you.

LOL

NicK that baiting thought entered my mind but I thought I would torture you by having you read my non-answer. :D

Is this not like the pot calling the kettle black.

"You have probably done more product comparison and experimenting than anybody else on Autopia, and in addition have the background and training to make unbiased observations!" :wavey

Great review and thank you!

I was not clear from your post, did you use the NXT followed by the NXT Touchup wax? That's the combination I've found works best...the touchup on top of the basic stuff gets as close to Z as anything I've seen.

Thanks again!

Tried the booster wax today with good results on both the NXT on the hood and Z5 on the rest of the truck.I like it better than using Z6 after a wash.Took care of the water spots with ease compared to the Z6 also.Easy on easy off.

My experience too. The booster is a once a week application and it's what makes the basic NXT pop in my experience. I can't say how it compares to the Z as I don't recall ever going beyond 3-4 weeks without applying more Z...just because it was fun and easy to do.
