My new Porsche Carrera S

Well I got news today that I went to PLPROD which means it's now planed for production! About damn time!

Next will be PROD for in production, then CMPPRD for completed production, then PRDLST for final checklist, then IMPINV for vehicle complete and invoiced, then the big one: ONVESL for on the ship!

Then there are more codes from when it arrives in port to dealer.

Interesting they "hobble" the ECU when it's shipped. Can't go over 20MPH or 2K RPM. Once at dealer, computer attaches to it for the unlock code to bring the beast back to normal life!

Still shooting for late April or May delivery!

Regards,

Deanski

X51 pricing is absurd. But hey "if they make it... they will pay".

I'll be looking for a second hand CaymanS in couple of years. The residual value of that car is going to be excellent for the 2nd owner. Everyone wants one! I'll probably keep the BoxsterS for summer/track duty. If they made a mid engine C4S I would never want another car again.

Renntech.org has some great production photos'

Well, I've found out that now the car is in production and has been through paint! :getdown Not long now!

It's getting closer to ONVESL which should be soon. Once I hear it's on the ship, then it arrives in port of Baltimore for final inspection prior to delivery to dealer.

Man I can't wait! :woot2:

Holy crap! I found out as of today it's in PRDQLT which is the final quality production check before it goes to Checkpoint 8, then on to port for shipment. The estimated completion is 3/15/06... TOMORROW :getdown :getdown :spot :spot

This maybe slightly O/T. But what are the green and red plastic panels that are visable in some of the pics?

I must say, its going to be a very sexy car when you get it

That's Porsche thinking of everything. The red and

green panels are like fender guards when you work

on your engine, you know so your mechanice

doesn't drop a socket wrench on you fender.

I hear the Porsche assembly facility in Valmet, Finland

has a better quality control record than the German

assembly lines. Apparently the average Finnish worker

has a high level of education for a blue collar worker

vs. the rest of the auto industry, while on the other

hand the German Porsche facilities have high numbers

of immigrant labor from North Africa of much lower

education levels.

You know those Scandinavians are precise.

You can tell where your Porsche was assmbled by the

first Letter in the VIN# S for Stuggart, V for Valmet.

OH HOT DAMN! I went ONVESL yesterday! :xyxthumbs

It's finally on it's way! :woohoo: :woohoo: :getdown

I can't wait! :D

Deanski- Bet you're on the edge of your seat!

What're your plans about taking delivery? I ask because my Porsche/Audi dealer insists that I take any new cars "in the wrapper" as they know how particular I am and they don't want to mess anything up.

Deanski, did you hear about that huge North Sea storm? 60' seas? LMAO.......

Is that Porsche watertight?

Does it come with flotation devices and do you have an International Watercarrier Insurance protection plan?

Ahhh crap! That option was mega $$! That's the 007 option, although was on the Lotus prior Q branch finally came to their sense and realized they had to put it in a REAL sports car! :chuckle:

What port is it coming into - Charleston SC?

It's going to Port of Baltimore where Porsche has a facility there, then it waits for the covered truck to CT.

Deanski

Found out the ships name is: Vega Leader and it's due into port on 04/02/06 at 15:00. :woot: :woohoo:

Can't seem to track it by name or call sign.. Maybe a ghost ship? :scared:

Oh, damn... I forgot.. Seems Porsche left the stealth-mode turned on the car when it left Germany. :D :lol

Once in port, dealer has a rush to have it picked-up! I may get it the next week.!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :getdown

I have to admit when I saw the thread title I thought, great another rich guy gets his toy. Because you know, I am just jealous and petty because I don't have one. However, I can tell this is your dream and you worked hard for it, deserve it, and will take great care of it.

I can't wait for the pictures. I can tell you are pumped.

Congrats on the awesome car.

Ya know what would suck Deanski????

We want pictures also. Are you going to the Port to watch 'er come in?

I was thinking about that! Funny you should ask.

Pics to follow. Just was at the dealer to get the SID off the Sirius satellite kit that will be installed. Damn Porsche doesn't have a 997 kit, BUT, you CAN use the Cayeene's kit and MAKE it work in the 997. A bit more work, but it can be done.

Scheduled to arrive dealer around April 13 or so.

The shop has a full new bottle of Menzerna P085RD to "play" with to get used to it prior to them doing my car. I've seen the work they do and it's 100% Autopia standards!

After that, the Armorglove goes on, the clear side marker lenses go on and then.. :woot2:

Deanski
