My new detailing toy

Well, I spent more money.

Was intrigued by this little contraption. LOL

Actually, I was at a friends house washing up his truck, and he had one sitting outside. I used it, and man I had to have one. I have an old, wobbly, wooden step ladder, which now will turn into firewood this winter......

Picked it up from Lowes for @ 36 plus tax. Home Depot had one for 2 bucks less, but were out of stock. Aluminum, so it is very light. And it is folds for easy staorage. legs have locks to hold them in place.

Enjoy.....I know I did...hence the pics....

and the money shot....

Very good idea! It's nice to have that extra 1-2ft of extra height without having to crack out a clumbsy ladder. I've got the opposit problem you do though, I hate having to get so low to wash the panels on my car. I can reach over 3/4 of the top of my car from each side :S Im only 5'7

hehe cute kids too! It'll be fun teaching them your OCD when they grow up and get their own vehicles!

I got the same one and I love it. I use it all the time when working on the roofs of my F150 and Toyota 4Runner. It also comes in handy when I detail boats.

I have 2 of them that I set up on either side of a SUV so I don't have to lug it around. Mine is made by Gorilla from Home Depot.

Just be careful when it gets wet as it becomes slippery. They make more expensive ones with anti-skid protection "taped" on top.

Yeah I love using mine. Just watch out for those locks...got a massive blood blister the other day when I caught my finger in it while doing a fire truck. Well worth the $$$.

Very nice! Too bad it isn't high enough for H2s and Excursions.

Even some cars are now so tall that something like that would be great for me on days I have cars but no trucks or SUVs, not to mention being able to get a better angle for buffing and sight line on car roofs.

Scott,

I have one at the shop and the legs extend to give you more height. It folds up like the one pictured.

I use it when repairing Hail damage on trucks. Purchased it at Home Depot.

Id just go to a local sporting goods or skate shop, and buy a strip of grip tape for a skateboard, and put it on top...

Yeah, or some adhesive-backed friction material from Lowe's/etc. Better safe than sorry and the stuff is pretty inexpensive.

i just picked one of these up at HD and with my $25 gc, i only owed around $12. it definitely will come in handy (for chores around the house as well) and not to mention it will probably last a lifetime as it's built pretty stable. it's money well spent! :up

I've been using the same one that you have since February. It gets used weekly on the wife's minivan and is holding up very well. Using Optimum No Rinse (ONR) I don't have a problem with it getting slippery. I have walked off the end of it a couple times :chuckle: Makes you happy that its not taller.
