My Interior Detailing Process...anything missing?

Here's the process I'm doing in the spring for interior details. Everything is the same as I was doing this year except the Gummifledge.

Is there anything you think I should add to the list?

1. Clean Glass with Sonus Vision.

2. Vacuum.

3. Clean fabric/upholstery with LGCMâ€Â¦apply spot cleaner/shampoo where necessary before LGCM.

4. Clean/condition leather with 1Z Lederpflege.

5. Wash/wax door jambs with #16.

6. Apply 303 Aerospace Protectant to vinyl/plastic.

7. Apply Gummifledge to weatherstripping.

8. Polish gauge cluster plastic with Mothers Plastic Polish if needed.

9. Clean rearview mirror.

10. Brush out dash vents.

Hey Paul!

Is it intentional to write Lederpflege (correctly) and Gummipflege as ~fledge? :D

They are the same words, pronounced as 'pflay-geh'. Means 'care'.

I don't know your German knowledge, obviously, but you are the rare one of those, who spell even the door jamBs correctly!!!

:bow

Process & products: :bigups

Very good process and impossible to criticize...I use 303 on weatherstripping also and it works great. 1Z Scheibenklar does well on the windows. I use Cockpit Premium (and soon Sonus) for interior plastic work.

I find the following areas easy to miss if you are not careful:

1. Under the headrest if they remain down (or not).

2. In between the center console and each seat.

3. Mirrors for cleaning in the windshield visor.

4. Plastic areas near the feet area.

5. Plastic parts on the ledge behind the back seats.

6. 1Z Plastik Reiniger on door sill plastic followed by 303.

7. Periodically vacuum and clean interior of center console and any cup holders that pop out.

I also like to add outside trim to detail when I do my interior. I find PB Trim Restorer works well in very small doses-it's like suntan lotion. :)

Believe it or not, I won the 4th and 5th grade class spelling bees in elementary school. Of course Gummipflege wasn't one of the words. :p

My door jambs steps

Serious wash and compressed air blasting

Clearkote vanilla moose

Occasionally if necessary an extra fine cut

Four star paint cleanser

Farecla hand glaze

four star UPP * 2 coats

might even chocolate moose wax them as well

Interior rubber seals and plastic

Clearkote vanilla moose to get any oxidation off

Autoglym 03B plastic and rubber cleaner/protectant

wolfgang black diamond tyre gel

Exterior trim I clearkote, 03B, poorboys ssr range and then either dura glaze or 6 - 10 coats of klasse sg, each one straight after the other.

To me .. glass cleaning is the very last step ... A customer will notice an accidental smudge on a window before anything else.

Me to. I always save the glass cleaning for last.

Sometimes I will clean the windows three or four times until I have looked thru the glass at just about every angle imaginable. It is my responsibility to find any smudges and streaks. Not the customer.

Over the years, even with all of the improvements to my detailing process, it is always the glass cleaning part of the process that continues to take top priority.

I agree. Sometimes while dressing the dash my applicator might accidentally brush up against the window and create a smudge. I do glass last for this reason.

The list wasn't necessarily in order.

I'll put them in order now though (putting glass last) and adding vanity mirrors and seatbelts.

1. Brush out dash vents.

2. Wash/wax door jambs with #16.

3. Apply Gummipflege to weatherstripping.

4. Clean rearview mirror and vanity mirrors / sunvisors.

5. Clean seatbelts.

6. Polish gauge cluster plastic with Mothers Plastic Polish if needed.

7. Clean plastic /vinyl with 303 Aerospace Cleaner and protect with 303 Aerospace Protectant.

8. Vacuum.

9. Use LGCM on carpet / upholstery.

10. Clean / condition leather with 1Z Lederpflege.

11. Clean glass with Sonus Vision.

How do you clean seatbelts anyway? 303 cleaner?
