My initial Wolfgang review

Well, this will probably be my last update on Wolfgang. As I mentioned, I drove my car in a lot of rain last week to see how it beaded. It beaded well, but didn't shed water overly fast. It was sort of like Zaino in this respect, but water moved a bit easier off it than the Z. Unfortunately it is also like the Z in one other way. When I washed my car this weekend (with #00) I noticed that there were water spots and areas on the mirrors where water streams across while driving that were marred. You could see the water spots/runs during the drying stage...

So, that pretty much does it for me. Blackfire does not do any of that, looks just as good (a bit of a different good, but good none-the-less), and isn't too hard to apply for me. The ease of use is nice, but it's not a substitute for performance in my book. Everything else about the Wolfgang was nice, though, and it's certainly a good product. So it will be yet another good product that just sits on my shelf waiting for me to have some mood swing or whatever and break it out again.

In the meantime, I'm going to have to repolish the car, so I'll probably use some SFP, top it with Blackfire, and then after the next wash I'll break out the Souveran.

Aurora40, that doesn't speak well for Wolfgang. I currently use Blackfire and UPP (on different cars). I was going to try Wolfgang but now I may just let it sit on the shelf as well. Is it possible that you didn't have full coverage when you applied the Wolfgang?

I have WG on 2 vehicles, one black and one silver, so far no spotting and we got the same rain as Bob here in southern VA. Each vehicle has 2 coats (separated by 24 hours). I did wash with 1Z Perls which is great for not creating water spots. That maybe cheating? :nixweiss.

Bob do you have harder water at your new house?

It's from the rain, not the wash water. You know how there will usually be a few big spots that dry on the paint after a rain, and some areas where the rain streaks across because that's where the rain streams off while driving? Those are the areas where you can see marring from the water. Like when drying the car off you can see these phantoms of where the spots were? They are hard to see once totally dry, though, but are easy to see while wiping the damp MF across while drying.

There are spots on the hood like that, and streaks from front to back on the side mirrors. It was less than a week between rain to wash, and it rained about three days in a row. I had noticed this with Zaino also. I don't notice it with Blackfire. It seems the areas wash off better or something? I always use #00, though.

I do a final rinse with 2 gallons of distilled water now, so water spotting from washing is pretty uncommon (I never wash in the sun).

I wouldn't let it stop you from trying it. Especially as it sounds like no one else has experienced this.
