Ok, well it's been about another 6 weeks since the 2nd coat of NXT (March 8th or so judging by my posts) and it is fairing much better. I have seen the car in several rainstorms, and washed it a little over two weeks ago. Both during the wash, and in the rain, water shed very well and beaded up well. In fact, both my wife and I drove home in the rain today, and her car looks more dry than mine (which has Wolfgang that's probably about a month old?) Not that this is a directly comparable thing, dryness, but the NXT does seem to be doing much better than the first coat.
I don't think it was application, as I didn't exactly gain any skills between the first and second coat, and used similar amounts both times. Perhaps the second coat stays on better once NXT has been put on the paint? Perhaps there was some issue with the existing MPPP on the paint the first time? I have no idea. But this coat of NXT is performing much better than the first did.
The car also still had good smoothness when I washed it last. I will wash it this weekend and check the smoothness/slickness of it. I suspect it will still be noticeable.
