Just to add a thought here, as some of us are getting good durability (so far) with NXT, and others apparently are not.
Others have posted good reasons why there may be some differences in all of our experiences concerning durability. My experiences so far on mine and my wife's vehicles are positive. Both vehicles were washed, and polished with #9. NXt applied, then buffed off after approx 20-30 minutes with MF cloths. Nothing exciting or special about what was done. Both vehicles are bc/cc white, with mine having original Nissan paint, and my wife's having OEM Ford from a re-paint last year. Both vehicles live outside 24/7. We've had A LOT of strong, long rains, and I think it snowed lightly once (white stuff falling from sky I assume was snow
). Both vehicles still look great, with mine being washed with NXT wash several times per week, atleast (weather permitting). Hers was, well, washed a couple times in the past 3 weeks. Both are still slick, but not nearly as much as when NXT first applied. Mine has also gotten FD several times, and NXT Spray Wax (I was curious) twice.
Anyways, to my thought about what could be affecting durability...
Meguiars suggests not getting the freshly waxed surface wet for up to 24 hours after application. I presume this is for the polymers to fully cure, and could be why slickness is greater after several hours have passed after application. This would also go for the depth and gloss. However, how many of those having durability problems have gotten their car wet within the first 24 hours? This could be from a rain, snow, or like here in the south, from the dew. I know lately my car is literally wet every morning, and interesting enough, even the dew beads (both vehicles). When I had applied NXT at the end of Feb, we didn't have the dew like we do now, and it didn't rain for atleast 24 hours after application on either vehicle.
Just something to think about. Is anyone with a garaged vehicle having durability problems? Or is anyone who had a rain immediately after NXT application NOT having durability problems?
As for me, I'll continue using NXT, as I'm happy with the results. Tomorrow I'll be receiving a shipment from Meguiars containing #16 to top mine with (an idea from Scottwax). I'll also be trying #82 SFP and their ultimate bonnets for my PC.
On a side note, I've been testing NXT on my driver's side rims against #20 on my passenger side. 3 weeks in to it and they both look the same. Both don't get as dirty as fast, and both clean with car wash very easily. Actually, I've even just used a dry MF to wipe them perfectly clean just to try. So far, it's a draw.
