My Impressions Of ClearKote's Moose Wax/Glaze

Ummmm......I like it:up

This BMW was vandalized the first week it was brought home by some stupid punks. Driver side window was broken and then they walked on the seats which cut the leather seats all up. They then keyed the drivers side. New seats were installed and the drivers side was re-painted, such a shame.....and the vandals were only 11 and 12.....where are the parents!?:nono

Hours of prep work were involved but I was excited about it because this was my first car that I would finish out with ClearKote's Vanilla Moose Wax Hand Glaze.

I met Everett of ClearKote at a Hot Rod car show last week saturday, wonderful guy and he and his wife are both very kind. I bought a gallon of ClearKote's QD, Moose wax, some Hand Glaze and a small bottle of their Metal Polish. I have not yet tried the Moose Wax but both the QD and the Hand Glaze worked great. Easy on and easy off and I am thankful to Scott for the recommendation :xyxthumbs

Following are a few pics and also one of the engine. The Metal Polish works great on the hard water spots on the glass.

Anthony (Thanks Everett!.....and Scott also)

Looks great, Anthony! Glad to hear you like the results and ease of use.

Did you top the Vanilla Moose or did you use it as a stand alone final wax?

Hey Scott....thanks

I was plum pooped out and I was going to top it with Trade Secret but just didn't have it in me. I have been doing nothing but details the last 5 or 6 days. I will in fact have to detail a Porsche Cayenne (sp?) Monday, Memorial Day, which is not a bad thing really.

The Vanilla Moose looked very nice as a stand alone so I figured why mess up a good thing? :)

I think I will use the Vanilla Moose on the Porsche Monday and then top it with P21S as it is a champagne color, very pretty. I prefer the Trade Secret on darks and the P21S on the light metallics.

I'll post a report and some pics.

Yeah, I think VM looks good as a stand alone wax. I know it beaded from March 19 to May 21 on a black Ford Expidition that sits outside every day at her work. I took pics of the beading on the 21st (still have about 10 pics left though) and it was beading nicely still. I waxed it again though, since she wants it waxed every 2 months.

This is Vanilla Moose alone on a Ferrari 348 Spider. He wanted it washed and waxed, but I had less than 90 minutes to do it. QEW and Vanilla Moose and about 80 minutes, and it looked like this:

Scott,

Very nice....as always!

There has been some bad press recently here on the forum about the Vanilla Moose and I wanted to see what the deal was but I honestly see no problems with it, other than it has a cleaner in it. It would be great if Everett had a glaze/polish without the cleaner.

Other than that I really like the stuff and as seen in your pic it can take on a very wet appearance. Iam wondering if Trade Secret or P21S would give anything more ? Whadda ya think?

Again, great looking Ferrari.

Anthony

Anthony-S100/P21S adds some depth without obscuring the reflective properties of Vanilla Moose, but frankly, I think it looks pretty deep by itself.

I think you will like the combination of VM and a carnuba topper.

Al,

Yeah....Santa needs to get off his fat lazy butt and have a Christmas in June special delivery.

Knowing my luck though he'll get me an Etch-O-Sketch!:shocked

This may be a stupid question, but is Moose Wax indeed a wax or a polymer?

In general, what has been your experience with this product on black cars?

drrac,

I have not used it on a black car as of yet as this was my first time using the stuff.

I was told that VMWHG is a petroleum based wax and not a polymer and that it has a mechanical (mild abrasive) cleaner while the Moose Wax has a chemical cleaner in it.

I am sure that Scott can and will correct me if I am wrong here.

It worked very well for me on this blue BMW and on that red Ferrari Scott did, so I am sure the results on black would also be impressive.

Anthony

My understanding is that it falls on the wax side of the spectrum, not the polymer side. I use it as more of a glaze/paint cleanser myself (along the lines of GEPC). It is awesome on black! Here's a black Jetta I did yesterday with VM and topped with EX:

Moose Wax is a wax, not a polymer (I am sure Everett will see this and correct me if I am wrong).

This is Moose Wax and Quikshine on a 540i:

And this is Vanilla Moose, Moose Wax and Quikshine on a limo:

BTW, I used the combo on the limo in mid Febuary and it is still beading. It sits outside with a car cover on it, so that may help the wax last longer.

Scott....what can I say but great work!

It's too bad that both the Moose wax and the Glaze both have cleaners in them as I would love to lay down a polymer, like UPP, and top it with either of the Moose's but I believe they would then remove the polymer, obviously.

I might see if UPP will lay down on top of the Vanilla Moose....

Final Polish (a polymer) works great over Vanilla Moose. Topped with S100 and the look is amazing.

Oh yeah...go MAVS!:p
