My first experience with the PC!

Well, I finally worked up the nerve to give my new PC a whirl over the weekend. I washed and clayed my car. And, then I applied Klasse AIO with the PC (I used Sonus Blue pad).

I think I have a lot to learn about technique, because I felt like it was only moderately successful. For one thing, I used much more product than I did the last time I applied AIO by hand. I couldn't really get the AIO to "load"on the pad in the same way that I do with a microfiber applicator.

I also found it hard to get to some of the tight spots on the car. Predictably , I did create some mess as well (getting AIO on the windshield, etc).

I'm really going to need to learn more about 1) how much product to apply and when, 2) basic skills for using the PC. But, it does seem like it could be a very useful tool.

The more you use it the easier it'll get.

To avoid spatter, make sure you always have the pad firmly in contact with the panels.

I like to massage the product into the pads, trying to only use enough to avoid dry areas on the pad. It's almost like I'm trying to use as little product as I can. But IMO you'll probably always use more product with the PC, just the nature of it.

Thanks, Accumulator. Those are all helpful tips.

I'll have to experiement more. After I get a few more layers of SG on, I'm going to try applying UPP via the PC.

I think I'm also going to experiment with different weights, and see what that does to the vibration levels.

I find the best combo vibration-wise is the 6" counterweight with the ~5" Flex pad from CMA.

Oh, and FWIW, I find it easier to apply UPP and SG by hand. I can't seem to get it as thin via PC (much as I prefer to do everything by machine).

hi there and welcome to the pc world of wonderment, pleasure, and angst.

something to consider if you have not already done so is to make sure that you pre load or prime your pc pad with a quick detailer before you put any wax or polish onto the pad. i have found that it helps in my application of the products that i use.

Thanks, CWCAD. I did spray the pad with Final Inspection before applying the SG. That did seem to help.

Accumulator - I used the Sonus DAS flex pad. I'm not sure which weight I used, but I know that the 5 and 6 both came with the PC package I bought from Coastal tools. Either way, there wasn't a heck of a lot of vibration at 4 or 5 (the speeds I was using).
