My first detail - suggestions?

Like most detailing tools, not all "sheepskin" mitts are created equal. There are a number of other factors that play a role as well even if both parties were using the same wash media on identical vehicles. ....technique/process(es), product(s), etc.

The mitt I bought was a "cheapie" that I purchased from a local body shop supplier. Although I have used these mitts in the past with great results. I just ONR'd the S2000 with that mitt a week before I did mine and the finish was perfect after, it's just this super soft clear on my Subie thats being extra sensitive to marring.

....no offense intended (not sure if it came off that way). I was just trying to reassure the OP that just because you had a bad result with the wool mitt you purchased it should not necessarily be indicative of what he can expect with his. Personally, I have purchased crappy wool mitts and good ones throughout the years and I have found the good ones to be relatively gentle on cars like my MBP '03 using traditional wash methods. ....but like I said, there are other factors to consider as well. In either case, a little prudence when trying a new tool is always good advice. A “CD test” before letting it touch his paint would probably be a good idea as well.
