Funny story how I got this customer. My wife's godfather is my mailman. I was talking to him about how Im starting a detail business. He tells me that a guy around the corner has a guy in a beat up pickup truck cleaning his 2010 Black Corvette GS. I told him the guy must know the detailer from someone else. For the hell of it I put a postcard in his mailbox around 3pm. A few days later I get a call. Set up a weekly cleaning and monthly wax. While washing his car he asked about the scratches and how they started appearing. He thought it was the other guy but I told in fairness to the previous guy that dealerships "hide" the scratches at time of delivery and eventually they appear. He asked if I could fix and I said it would be perfect when I finished.

I made the mistake of not getting wool pads and used 5.5" pads on a griots instead of 4". Long story short, took 14 hours from start to finish for inside and out. Right now I just have the befores as I finished at 4am. Im going back on Tuesday. I originally thought the paint wasnt bad but looking at these pics it was pretty f'd up.

Pictures are from a Kodak easyshare so obviously theyre arent the greatest. If anyone has a cheap dslr they are looking to upgrade let me know.

Update, customer left a voicemail. I was scared that I had missed a spot since I was up for 22hrs and working off of 3 cereal bars. However, he said the car was gorgeous and was stopped several times today about how good his car looked.

im picking up a used panazonic lumic dmc fz30 dslr tonight for $200. Never had a dslr but the reviews look decent and I could probably sell for about the same price when I want to upgrade to a better camera. It made my day when the guy called and said it was perfect. Hes just as anal about his car as I am too.

Looks good brother! I'll bet it looks better in the sun! Black sucks but when it's clean it sure does look good!

Thanks, didnt take any pics with the other lights. I was finishing up at almost 4am so I forgot. Maybe next week when I go back for the weekly wash. I did make sure that I did an ipa wipe down that night to ensure no swirls or anything was left behind though.

goodness neighbor, terrible....just TERRIBLE WORK~!~!!!

SERIOUSLY...it's dangerous what you just did...do you realize that?! now other drivers are going to go blind on the road....ARE YOU HAPPY NOW?!?!

haha at this rate, you should be up on the pro-sage list in no time xD

It's amazing how many hours you can put into something when you really enjoy what you are doing. Congrats on cold calling the guy too. That can be really hard for some people.

Tileman, I used the same as you: orange ccs and 105 and white ccs and 205. I wasnt smart and used the 5.5" pads though. I have 4" of the orange ccs, surbuf, and LC PWF coming tomorrow.

I dont do the whole facebook or anything like that. Do you just have a personal account setup and have pics on there or do you have an account just for the detailing.

well i have my own personal account setup because i wasn't doing it as a business--honestly i just wanted somewhere to upload my pics from(didn't know autopia had it's own gallery thing and uploading from my phone is easier on fb) and people started hitting me up asking me to detail their cars or for estimates...

you CAN setup a separate business account... TO be quite honest, I'm thnking about setting up a FB group (if you want in lemme know) ...

I just set up an account and started a group named Neighbors Envy Detailing. If it werent for my wife I would have no idea what the hell to do lol. In the next few weeks I will try to set everything up. Let me know what you have for ideas.
