My finishing pad review

with extremely soft paint, which pads would you recommend from the LC CCS range ?

which pads would be good for light swirl removals and finishing polish ?

i've got optimum poli seal and wondering whether to take the next step to get a random orbital
 
Yeo the Meguiars solo pads i've reccomended quite a few times here already.



They are the best range of pads on the market by a considerable margin.



The 7inch size is perfect in my opinion. The wool pads for cutting and foam pads for polishing definitely uses the best pad material for each situation.



Wool is far better for paint correction when using a rotary. The high cutting foam pads can really skip and grab where as the foam just works so smooth.

I can't seem to find any info on how much a gallon is supposed to cost of M105, is $90 a good price? just seems a pretty steep to me for a gallon of polish....
 
I'm not trying to knock down anything our saying about the edge pads but i belive you have one of thier older white pads which were VERY stiff. they switched foam and now are very soft. anyways thank's for the info

No knocking. I have the new "soft" foam, which is why I don't like. IMO, softer is not always better (it gets grabby on a lot of soft paint).

My distributor is selling it for $82 a gallon (pro price) and from what I have read here, if it saves me a step or two and some time, the price would be well worth it.
 
TH0001- Thanks for expanding on your views regarding the 9006. Since I like 6" pads, it's nice to know I don't have a bunch of losers in the 9006s.
 
TH0001, you didn't state whether you were finishing with a PC/UDM/rotary but I'm under the assumption that you're finishing with a rotary correct? As a suggestion, you might want to add that in your original post so others will not be in question. :p
 
Who carries these pads? I am getting ready to purchase some pads and would like to try some of these out...

The LC red pad is brilliant for Blackfire gloss enhancing polish and 106FF

I've never gotten holograms with any pad once I started slowing down to 1100, 900 and then 600 to 750 after the polish broke down.

The meg's solo finishing pad might be worth a try.

Megs has really come a long way with these newer pads.I love how they sit on my backing plate perfect and they edges are just perfect.



I still love my blue lc pads for most paints, but it is also my technique on how I use them.

I was actually going to post up a rave about the Solo finishing pad. Used it on a Harley a few days ago with super soft paint and it really did the trick.



For all the less experienced guys out there this is a really great tutorial on what to use with what. Todd broke it down specifically by paint hardness on a few cars, and information like that can be a godsend if you are on a job that is extra frustrating.
