Also when a car has severe defects and someone wants to show every panel was fully corrected, that is fine as well.

No, that is overkill. If you show the worst panel before and after a viewer should be able to surmise that the detailer can deliver the same result on every panel. Don't you think?

The click & brags are mainly for just that...bragging about what kind of cars your working on and marketing your services. There are so many gratuitous product shots that it seems some detailers are sponsered by the product companies. IMO the pro click & brags shouldn't have any products listed in them at all.

Bryan..I see your point. However, that is between the client and the detailer. Not the client, detailer, and Autopia Click and Brag section.

Well then let the boss set a limit. Because if there is not a limit, some will get criticized for posting too many pics and some will get a free pass.

You should never assume anything when it comes to pictures and detailing. :D

Is the client specifically paying you and requesting to post hundreds of pictures of their car onto online forums to show off to others? If so, I think where the courtesy lays is linking a lengthy picture thread to an off-site gallery and not multiple comments on a 'discussion' forum.

IMHO, if you have to create a reply to your own thread because there are too many pictures on the first comment, you have too many pictures.

Since when did click and brag or pro detailers before and after section become a discussion area? I thought there where other areas of the forum for that.

That is just my general understanding of what a web forum is in the first place, but I guess that understanding may be wrong.

Either way, I think your attitude of 'I'll post as many pictures as I want until it forces a change in policy' is a little off. By the way, I'm just assuming you are thinking this is somewhat directed at you because of how defensive you are getting about it. I would have no idea you were included in this too-many-pictures discussion otherwise (since I don't read the C&Bs anymore).

Again, I'll mention the word "courtesy" one more time.

Usually I don't post whole lot of pics. I even went back and looked, I have not had over 30 pics in a while on one car.

I don't usually have time to take pics of myself washing a car, ect.

So your tude about me is way off, so please have a search and see for yourself.

If you don't read the C&B threads why are you even in this discussion? :nixweiss

"Courtesy" I think some should have courtesy not to worry about other peoples posts and just not read them.

It appears to me that most who are complaining about too many pics in a thread, don't have the time or means to post more then a few pics. So if everybody does like they do, they will be seen as the same quality of detailer.

If somebody want to try and get an edge on everybody else here by posting many pics of defected and corrected panels, I say more power to them.

Bryan, seems like your at the top of every debate, why even bother? Nobody has to prove anything to anyone here. It's an open forum, so do what works for you and who cares what anybody else says.

I think since the discussion is about the reason I stopped reading the C&Bs in the first place, my opinion is valid.

I am really trying not to sound like a jerk, so I apologize if I come across as having an attitude. It's just that the "if you don't like it don't read it" attitude annoys me, although I agree to a point which is exactly why I did stop reading it a long time ago.

And yes, I did look back on your last C&B and I think it had the appropriate amount of images attached. :chuckle:

However, I think that you relating the number of pictures posted to the quality of a detail/detailer is completely off as well.

I'm just here to be a trouble maker. I never offer anybody any help.

The other thing I learned is Autopia is NOT a site designed around attracting customers. almost everyone on here is a detailer. Every now and then someone will come on here looking for some work to be done but 99% of the people on here are either detailers or people wanting to be detailers. Its just the way this site is geared.

Bingo! My thoughts exactly over the last 6-8 months. I posted someting like this back when people were posting hours in their thread titles versus amount of pictures.

When you take 200 pictures and post all of them, of course your detail is going to take 50 + hours.

And I agree with the 1% theory. I alwayas have. At one point I thought posting more will get me more jobs, but it hasn't. Every now and then.

I guess the question is why are people posting such epic threads about non super cars and, really some, not super processes. I mean I'll look at David's Maserati or Carrera GT post more than once, but a 50 picture post of a sentra? What are we showing off?:nixweiss YOu had swirls, finer swirls, some stains and you got them out...great! We should be doing this every day...it's our job. Now some pre, during, and post shots of a car we particularly care about or a customer we like...that's cool.:chuckle:

In addition, I would say...is everyone a "Pro" lately? Do people still use te reguar Click and Brag? I feel like some people use the Pro forum and mean to use weekend warrior. What constitutes a pro?:nixweiss If a person markets, grows, makes money to earn a living, the list goes on and there may be no consensus.

But my thoughts are starting to ramble. I like Scott's idea. I also like Justin's quote "What happened to back when write ups were supposed to help out a novice instead of them becoming glory to myself threads?":goodjob

Ok point taken.

Then just let their posts be.

I looked back at the last five, I figured someone here would look back more then that. :D

No not the quanity, but the quality of the quanity.

For every person who doesn't like the huge thread there seem to be many more who do. Hasn't the free market of autopia already decieded this.

Are page views down here? This place IMO gained a lot in the past by the huge threads. I suggest we set a limit of 10 pics per car in a thread. Then see how boring this place becomes. All IMO of course.

When dealing with non-correction details (like basic, 1 polishing step details), I completely agree. I can see correction detail threads needing 30-40 pictures to adequately convey what was accomplished.

And I'd also like to say again... this is what I thought a discussion forum was :nixweiss

I think people try to make way too much drama out of what is supposed to be a discussion. If everybody had the same opinion then what fun would a discussion be? I, for one, like it when someone calls me out and makes me think about what I am saying because that is what makes me a smarter and more rounded person. It seems that often opinionated people are mistaken for being e-thugs. I like a heated discussion and is one reason I post on forums like this. It's the people that start taking personal jabs at others or start taking things too seriously that downgrade a thread to jibberish.

Anyway, moving on. :work:

I'm all game for discussions. As long as it stays on the appropriate path and people stay on topic.

I never said anything about offering help. But anytime a thread like this comes up, guess who is most active??? I'm sure you do help people all I'm saying is why bother getting into it with others.

I'm one to post a lot of pictures in my threads when I do a write up. I enjoy doing it. It has helped me gain work and also it has helped my clients see what truely was performed. I have gotton so many PM's over the last year thanking me for doing long write ups. I have people call me and say thanks because they learned something. Is some of it self promotion. Absolutly, I have seen someone write about Todd Helme and his long threads and him coping from someone else or something. Todd gets paid very well for what we all do. He is one of the best in the industry and has excellant marketing abilities. He is a great guy we can all learn from if you open your eyes. After all this is a business. It doesn't stop after the detail. I personally think if you don't want to read a thread then don't. Its an open forum. Im tired of people here bashing others and not enjoying the reads. Thats why I haven't posted much lately here. Way to much drama.

Do you know there is between 27-31 minutes of comercials per hour on the average radio station! Do you sit in your car and listen to them or do you change the channel? You change the channel of course! So if you don't want to see 100 pictures of a SENTRA , DON'T LOOK!!! Move on!! Get over it. To some these are informative. Not everybody is doing high end car after high end car, so sorry we all can't post SUPER CARS in every post!! Not to many of you complainers are doing SUPER CARS every day! We all have a choice in this world just move on! If were going to limit the number of pictures then I would like to remove the links at the bottom of posts. There is a place for them in this forum!! Not on every post! We know how to wash a car with ONR!! Advertise yourself in yhe correct place! My $.02.
