I owne a car detailing shop and I need to increase my income. I want to add window repair serves. I don't know which is the best product.

No offense, but i hope no one else reply's to this. Explain yourself, you'll get more respect around here and people will be willing to help you out. We all want to increase our income...but there are many deterring factors...tell us more!:xyxthumbs

give me a break I just started to use this forum, and I just started in the car detailing business. very long story. basically my shop is barely making any money, I've been managing the shop for two months now, before that the shop was loosing 2000 dollars a month. I'm ether a lier or a wizard. I need to add windshield repair to get some security. every company says their the best I don't know what to choose. I'm looking for a high quality product that will produce a seamless result

Do you honestly believe that windshield repair will save your shop, I mean really think about it??

You would have to dump money out to pay for the equipment and training and then you'll have to advertise it and then you'll have that lull period before people come calling......and all of that costs more money.

The better question to ask is.....why isn't my shop making any money?

Are my prices too low?

Is my quality of work sub-par?

Am I spending too much on non essential products and tools?

Am I targeting the right customer base?

There are those questions and many others but I honestly don't believe windshield repair is your saving grace.

By you're own words you "just started" so maybe a shop was too much too soon for you? Have you ever run a business before, have accounting experience or does someone do that for you? If so how much are they charging you and can you do it yourself?

Obviously it's not working so something must be fixed but adding another service that you've never done isn't going to fix anything. You have to do what you love doing and maybe detailing isn't it?

Anthony

why did you take over a business that was losing 2000 a month in a field you know nothing about?

Like the other person mentioned, I don't think adding another service is going to solve your problems. You have to figure out why your not making anything in the first place.

Do you have a steady stream of work but just aren't charging enough or do you just not have enough work at all?

If you're losing that kind of money, I hate to say it, but you might want to go after some wholesale stealership work.

You need to learn how to spell and use proper grammar.

WOW! I dont even want to know where this thread is gonna go...lol

Just like everyone else said, I truly think that adding another service to your business is not going to save you whatsoever, especially windsheild repair. If anything dent repair would probably be a better way to go. But good luck.

Holy crap! That is exactly what I was thinking. Try not to be offended, but if you speak with customers in the same way you "speak" here, that may be your problem.

WOW! This is a rough crowd. It's going to be hard for him not to be offended. At this point I don't think it matters where this thread goes because he won't stick around to read it. You guys make some good points, but I kind of feel for the guy.

:geez

Why not side track the money losing detailing, and look for something that's missing in your area?

Why not glass replacement? Get paid by insurance....

Repairs? Find a mechanic and rent a bay to him or employ him?

Used car sales?

Topless indoor car wash on Saturdays?

Tire sales and tire repair?

These are things people NEED that can pay your bills

Don't fk around with these labor-intensive, low-gross, capital draining business.

I have a steady stream of customers coming in but I'm also charging less to keep the customers coming in. My expenses are around 8 thousand dollars a month and I'm making enough money to covering that. I'm located in a very busy area, there are three other detailing shops on the same rode I'm in, two windshield repair shops just next to me, and many car paint shops, and electric repair shops. believe it or not I offer the best paint polish and inside cleaning jobs in my region. my shop has the best reputation. I will post some pics. There were many reasons why the shop was loosing before I took over and it will take too much time for me to explain all of them. I will wright a new post in the mane page and give a full explanation of every thing and including why I think windshield repair is a good start to boost up my business. it will be long but organized.

Ok, I'm starting to agree with the others. Use spell-check. Copy/paste from Word if you need to. Sheesh. :nomore:

Also, if your shop is gaining in reputation, you may not need to low-ball the competition with your pricing. Don't do windshield repair if you have two shops next to you.:hm

Like in Realestate, Location, Location, Location. It seems to me that you have alot of competion on your hands. Though its not always a bad thing but in this capitalist country it will drive you to work harder for less money. Now there are two windshield repair places and you want to be the third? I think your headed in the wrong direction. When you start a business you want to stand out, be different not do the same thing everyone else around you will.

Honestly, this site is more detailing and car enthusiasts than professional shop owners. I don't think too many people do windshield repair around here. I'd look for a windshield repair forum.

Vigo, we aren't trying to put you down or tell you that you suck. We cant help you unless you provide us with information. We aren't bad people around here, but when you come to a forum and start asking questions like "I cant make money, help" ummm...explain!

Once you write that other post, hopefully we"ll get a better understanding of what will help. Also, where are you located?? Location plays a HUGE factor!
