My detailing plans appear to be in hold

My wife and I got home from worked and were standing in front of her car and noticed someone hit her car today in the parking lot at work and just left...

I was going to start a full detail this weekend with a ceramic coating, but now I have to take it to the body shop tomorrow for an estimate.

Granted it’s cosmetic, but that’s not the point

What makes me most upset is she parks in a parking lot that is adjacent to her work and a gas station / restaurant. The woman went into the gas station and asked if anyone who works there drives this car. The manager on duty knows my wife and I and said no she works next door so go over and see her there. The woman never showed her face in my wife’s work.

No exterior cameras, but they do have the woman on video in the gas station, but I was told only the manager can show me the picture

Bright and early tomorrow morning you know where I will be!

Sorry man. At least having her on security camera is a plus, but I understand about the detail.

you could always do all the other panels and leave this damaged one until after the new paint cures, whether before or after the repair happens. But totally understood if that just became less of a priority.

And by the way... why didn’t she leave a note if she was willing to go into the gas station but too intimidated to go into the workplace? I suppose checking the gas station deserves a few points, but this is still a hit and run. Whether you find her kind enough to go easy is up to you. :)

Just get her license plate and report it to your insurance people.. You have great pics too, if they want to see them.. They should be able to do the rest..
Sorry this happened to you...

No license plate unfortunately...there were no outside cameras but she will be on camera going into the gas station at least.

I called the state police to find out what to do and my wife will have to take the car back to the scene for an investigation. There is a local Facebook group my wife is on that she posted the incident about. So we will see if the lady cones clean prior to starting an incident report with the police

Sorry to hear about that. Maybe you can get some other repairs done at the same time.

She probably went in because she thought someone saw her. When she confirmed your wife was elsewhere it was time to run.

Update:

The manager was not allowed to show me any video evidence with a police report...makes sense. She did confirm the woman seemed concerned (probably because she thought someone saw her)

As I said my wife posted about this on a local Facebook group....the woman reached out to her overnight confessing to the incident. She will be bringing her insurance info to my wife’s work place tomorrow. The nice this is if she fails to do so, we have a confession and name for a potential police report

Gas stations used to have cameras that took pictures of the plates in case a person filled up and did not pay. Now that you can’t get gas until you pay I suppose they no longer take any photos. I’m getting old as I can remember when you pumped your gas THEN paid. People have changed and not for the better. I saw the footage of people attacking FedEx and UPS trucks and stealing the packages and it was actually painful for me. Some people were not raised right and have no shame at all.

sorry to see this, it`s good you found out who it was. Good luck with the repair. This is why I was asking about a dash cam in the other thread. They should turn on with a impact and start recording.

Astouffer512- Gee, lots has gone on since I last logged on here! Sorry to hear about the damage, but glad to hear it`s going better now. Sure hope the bodyshop does a good job for you.
