My Dad's 2007 BMW 328i Wagon[Project]

My dad recently was in the market for a new car.  He's owned 3 BMW's previously.  2005 Z4, 2008 328i, 2012 Z4

All cars were convertibles so it was challenging to talk my dad into listening to my idea of what I thought would be good for him....comfort and room with great/unique looks.

We ended up going for a 2007 BMW 328it Wagon.  Bought it with 70k on the clock.

We've done a lot of preventative maintenance along with trying to make this car more unique/custom.  This is the progress so far!

Day we bought it with my friend Robert and his wagon.  He influenced me a bit.

12mm spacer added out back.  Not finished detailing it.  Will post better before and afters once project is finished.

My dad's flying in Saturday to pickup and we still have tons of work to do.  Will post updates over the next several days.  Thanks for looking.

I like it!  Great transformation.  How's the ride quality with the coilovers?

Thanks!!  We're doing tint and a black vinyl overlay on the roof to make it look more unique.  Also have red centercaps to add and we upgraded the lights to HID's.  Both headlights and fogs.  Have a lot of work to do between now and Saturday morning.  Going to apply Leatherique to the seats and top the car off with 22ple for protection.

I was actually really impressed how this car drove as I got a great first impression when I picked the car up in Charlotte and drove it back here to Chapel Hill.  Really smooth ride and straight as a arrow as far as tracking goes.  The coilovers with upgraded wheels and tires definitely change the feel of the car.  I should be on a track somewhere as I'm not doing the car justice treating it as a daily driver.  You feel more bumps now but it made the car a driver and more aggressive.  Definitely worth the money.  It handles great especially at higher speeds.  Will post updates as they come.

Thanks to Danny at DRM for doing a great job on my dad's tint.  The car is starting to come together.  Stay tuned for more updates.

The ring came off in transit and given my deadline I contacted the company I purchased the aftermarket lights from.  They actually were pretty cool about the whole thing and one of their reps was on the phone with me the entire time I was completing the process.  After about 45 minutes we were able to attach the ring in place, make sure it would not fall off again, and seal them back up.  I was bit nervous as the lights were not cheap.  Will post pics of them installed but I was happy I was able to do this myself and not have to risk the shipping and handling damage again.  Damaged light before was because of shipping which pushed my deadline back:/

Took the roof rack rails off.  Leaves three holes on each side of the roof.  Want to plug them and apparently BMW has some.  Going to look into or possibly make a trip to Lowes depending on the price.

Going to apply this on Thursday.  Love this stuff!!

This project came down to the wire and I did not get the opportunity to take as many before and after pics with my new camera as I wanted.  I polished the car with Menzerna 4000 via Rupes Big Foot polisher.  I was happy over all with the correction I achieved in such a short period of time.  The hood and the front/rear bumpers caused the most trouble and I personally feel I could achieve better correction but due to the time constraints I had to let it go.

I also used the Tuf Shine Tire Kit and I personally thought the product worked well.  However, when I arrived at Cars and Coffee this past Saturday I realized and saw some areas that I missed.  Brandon Woo was in attendance and stopped by to look at the car.  He explained to me his experience using this product and shared some tips for future use.  Thanks Brandon for the info.  All and all my dad loves his new car and I'm happy to see the progress and work we completed in such a short period of time.  It was a great learning experience:)

Car looked awesome on Saturday! Tuf Shine is tough, lots of preparation is needed. Coating a tire is like coating paint, you need endless prep and even after that you hope no past issues can affect compatibility.

Thanks Brandon.  A lot of hard work.  Definitely appreciate the info on Tuf Shine.  I'm going to have to revisit this situation when I visit Ohio.
