My Car.

Good shine on the car, but Ill never understand you Vw crowd and your "euro" appeal. I feel those wheels are too wide, its a FWD car not a RWD porsche. Also, do your tires squeal when your going straight, or on the slightest turn, because it appears as if your side walls are riding on the asphalt. If this is euro, I want none of it.

I have to agree with the Volvo man on this one...I never ever in my life understood the notion of throwing anything wider than 225's on the back of a FWD car!!!! I care little about looks however in relation to function...23mm rear bar or not, there is absolutely no way you could get that thing to rotate properly through a turn...and during heavy turning loads your sidewalls are literally going to be all thats gripping the pavement...

The EURO'ness of this stuff is clouded...and is quickly becoming a similar saying as RICE, but without the cheapness...No doubt you spent a pot of cash to get some 255 (!!!) mm rear tires to hold your trunk off the ground...It started in Germany with the true German sports cars...and it was never intended for a FWD car to be given a RWD look...Thats all I can see about a EURO look in this sense...But to each his own...I know you guys like to spend tons of money on less than mainstream modifications (over a grand for audi door handles on a Golf?), which is fine as long as its your money...I am not saying that is looks horrible...I am just saying it is an expensive alternative to putting a "turbo" badge on the back of an NA car...people will think it is turbo'd, but it isn't...in this case people will think its RWD...but it isn't...its just silly thats all...

On a friendlier note...I love the paint, very good work...

Hi Mr Volvo.

I never race the car, but the tires never ever squeal. the front wheel is 18x8.5 - the "right" size tire is 225/40/18 - I have 215/35/18s. Yes it is pretty low profile but that is how I like it.

First, I like the staggered look and since nobody had 11"s on on a VW at the time, I went with it. Why buid a car that looks like everyone else'? Many has 10"s and some 10.5"

(In the US that is.)

I built the car to be a show car even though it is a daily driver.

Not every VW is built in mexico many models are still biult in Germany. Hey, BMW are built in the USA!

Here is my car with my first set of wheels for you.

Tdekany,

I must say though I really like those borbets, as that what they appear to be on your car. I had Type H's for winter tires and found them to be quite soft rims, did you ever have any problems with your borbets?

Sorry, they are RONAL R7s I think.

Didn't like them - they bent pretty easily.

Yeah dude...the last pic in the rain looks amazingly better and more functional...put those back on dude...

See? With H&R coilovers and being that low I use to rub all the time even on the highway if I drove faster than 60mph. I use to be a nervous rack.

Plus I don't have those wheels anymore (I have 2 of them)

Sorry but I have to look at my car every day and you don't.

BTW, while it's not needed (my ego is fine) I get more compliments then you think.

I am sure you do...Everyone has a different opinion...I have no problem with a GT-2 sporting 13 inch wide BBS's, and 325 width tires...But a Jetta with rear tires as wide as an OE E-46 M3 is silly, thats all I am saying, its just simply RiDONKUlously silly...ESPECIALLY when the front tires are pulling the car around...

I don't know man...In my area the VW crowd is very very annoying...so I didn't mean to come off as a *****...around here they make claims about jettas and golfs being all "euro" and do this ridiculous stuff to them...and at the same time criticize every other car not manufactured in Germany...I am not critcizing your choices..like you said you have to look at it every day not me...

But honestly that must have cost at least 3 grand for the tires and wheels alone...let alone any fender work needed...I tend to lean towards more subtle styling modifications and lots more performance stuff...If you have a crazy tuned VR6 or 20psi 1.8t I will shut up, but damn it if it is a 2.0L GL to start with I am gonna get pissed...

The X5's are and the Z3's were built in NC, that is true...everything else is assembled in Germany...I did here the new X3 and possibly the Z4's are built here as well...But everything else still gets tinkered with across the pond last time I checked...

FWIW what VW's are made in Germany...I don't know...I am just curious...I know beetles are made in Mexico, and something is made in Brazil but I forget...

It is a VR6, pumped up a little bit (way faster than what I need) :D the wheels were not that much because I was sponsored by TMTUNING from Berlin. The tires I ordered from www.onlinetires.com . Still alot of money. No bodywork was needed.

I know what you mean by the VW croud - that is why I am out of it. Where do you live?

GTIs, R32, Some Jetta Wagons, Some Passats, I don't recall exactly. As I said I don't keep up with this stuff anymore.

Now, don't forget the HPA VWs from Canada for about $30000 you will get 4 wheel drive, twin turbo and 0 to 60 in 3.2 seconds with all oem parts. Well over 200mph top speed, 11.4 in the 1/4 mile. http://www.hpamotorsports.com/ go to the R32 Gallery and check out video 2!!!!!!!!!!

nice...I love VR6's...one of the best sounding engines ever produced this side of an air cooled flat 6...

Well that truely calmed me down...I was thinking it was a 2.0L playin' a lookers game...and that bothered me thats all....

I am up in Pa...A good friend of mine owns a Mark III jetta, and he is sane...but a friend of his is annoying beyond all compare with the "euro" stuff...I go to Penn State University, and tons of dudes drive some heavily modified Vdubs...I stay away from conversing with those types, and try to keep things more technical and performance oriented...The narrow minded'ness of them, and the constant "my car is made in germany" would give me a headache...I would tolerate it from an M5 owner and a few others, but other than that its just annoying...

Also the ignorance would make me sick...I have met very few avid VW goers that truely know the connection between the VW company, "the Dr." (as in Dr. F. Porsche), and Adolf Hitler...A lot of guys honestly thought their Golfs were made by Porsche, and used porshce engines...It just seems like the Germans make some crazy awesome cars, and have an undeniable engineering prowess...but that prowess is not really illustrated in what these guys claim it is...VW are fine daily drivers (VW literally means "the people's car" in German)...thats about it...just like countless other car manufacturers...They are still hyping there image more and more, and getting really expensive...but since the death of the corrado, they haven't made much at all besides the R32 thats very exciting...BMW, Merc, and Porsche do though...and these guys will suck the big Germans repuations to try to hype up their own...I am rambling now, its irrelevant...sorry men, carry on...

I do agree with you about these guys. What are you driving?

X5, Z3, Z4 built in SC. X3 built in Austria. Some 325's built in South Africa.

A black Mazda Protege5...just a lowly college car for now...some minor mods (wheels, suspension, and some engine internals) for now...still trying to save up to get a lot done all at once...love the chassis though, thats why I bought it...
