Washed it, and the paint felt like sandpaper for some reason :hm

Clayed w/DP clay and Clearkote Quikshine as lube

Polished w/Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover and a 5.5" light cutting pad

Sealed w/4* UPP

Enjoy!

Thanks guys...I like the WG polish a lot. It's similar to SSR2, but you can work it in a lot longer, and it leaves the paint squeaky clean.

The motor is stock....just has bolt-ons (intake, headers, exhaust, tune, elec water pump, etc etc), 3200 stall, built 4L60E, and a Moser 12-bolt rear end w/3.73s. (and a 100 shot of nitrous)

Best pass so far was a 12.1@113, but I wasn't launching very hard....this was also the pass that I blew my stock rear end on. Should go 11's spraying 100 off the line and mid 11's on the 150 shot.

Very nice looking Z, Matt. :)

Thanks for the info on the Wolfgang Swirl Remover. Any dusting issues?

Oh yeah, do you happen to have the LT1 in your car? ;)

Haven't had any dusting at all w/the WG swirl remover....

As for my car having an LT1? It's a possibility...

I would start with a 98+ with the LS1.

Then the price jumps and I can't afford it.

So get a V6 car and swap in an LS1/LS6; ultimately I think that'd work just as well.... and maybe cheaper. You'd for sure be able to mod some of the "harder to reach areas" in the bottom end of the motor before installing it... only adding a benefit down the road when you start throwing nitrous (or other forms of boost) at it, etc.

No..no swirls. Those are some minor streaks from the sealant.

Autos are much easier on the rear end....but if you plan on drag racing, expect to get the auto rebuilt and the rear end upgraded. I got 2 1/2 years of racing out of my transmission and rear end (w/aftermarket 3.73s which are weaker than stock gears) w/sticky tires. Car now has 95,300 miles....

Just make sure it runs fine and look for the obvious things when looking for a used car. Listen for rear end noise, make sure the tranny isn't slipping, make sure there are no ignition or fuel related misses, make sure the weep hole on the bottom of the water pump isn't leaking, etc etc...
