My backing plate bent!!!

Yup, my backing plate bent. I have one of the megs plats on my pc right now and I got in a car accident last week where I got t-boned and knocked off of an overpass. The pc was in my back seat and flew up and BUSTED MY HEAD OPEN!!!:wall Needles to say it hurt. And it bent my freakin backing plate. (talk about adding insult to injury, I got laughed at when I explained why I needed a new plate to the girl at the p&b store:rolleyes: ) Anyways I wanted to post this for you guys that are mobile to secure everything, because you never know whats gonna happen. Oh yeah, my leather cleaner somehow exploded all over the inside of the car, and some of it actually got into the cut my pc left on my head. That hurt even worse. Well be safe, and always secure your supplies.

Dude that sucks. I was thinking about that actually today and so I loaded everything up in the back of my truck.

Thanks guys, besides some bruised ribs and sore muscles, im fine. The darvacet helps quite a bit lol.

I fell down a good, fifteen feet atleast. Oh an btw, 80 didn't work, I had to use 83.:D One thing that made me feel a little better is the guy at the salvage yard said mine was the cleanest totalled car he had ever seen ;)

Well my light turned green and the car in front of me took off, so I followed them thinking that since they went it was clear. NOT! as soon as I made my turn WHAM! Front, back, all side glass broken, frame bent, passenger seat pushed up against drivers seat, three rims broken, front bumper hangin, (car finally stopped when it hit a "wall" of rocks) rear drivers side smashed from hitting a pole on the way down, roof foled in, doors so far inside the car the dash was broken and I couldn't get my insurance card out because the door was in the way, my window was cracked where my head hit, and my seat belt thingy was bent from my hip hitting it. Theres prolly more but just put it this way, I the damage was several hundred more than what I paid for the car brand new! I had just put a fresh coat of 26 on the damn thing too. Oh yeah, and thank god for GAP insurance :bow .

How was this thread titled, "My backing plate bent!!!", and not, "I got t-boned and knocked off of an overpass"?!?!

Well part of the reason is because, as much as the wreck itself sucked, I can't even try and releive some stress by doing someone elses car becasue my plate bent. I know it seems pretty trivial and some what non important, but that was kinda the straw that broke the camels back ya know? Also as I said before they have me taking darvacet every six hours so I might not be thinking the clearest right now hehe

:EDIT: added to the title, and sorry guys im trying to sound as coherent as possible, but sometimes it doesn't work lol.

Think about converting over to the Edge 2000 pad system . No backing plates to bend or wear out . :xyxthumbs

My dad is going to buy me another plate and some 3m stuff tommarow. I'm glad he wasn't upset lol. (it was his car:shocked ) He's just happy that I found him some great possible replacements. We are going to look at a 2001 Volvo s40 with 29K on it for 11K. And a 2002 Land Rover Disco with 18K on it for 17K. He's thinking something bigger or just with a really good safety rating because it scared him how much the car was damaged. The adjuster said it held up well, but when you see the passenger seat in the middle of the car it still scares ya. Well thanks guys and just remember, you never know whats going to happen so always secure everything properly. Be safe, and happy detailing. *on the rare occasion you have good enough weather to do it*:wavey

LOLOLOL..Dang, I was thinking the same thing!!! You get t-boned,the car flys off the overpass, the PC whacks you in the head, leather cleaner is then inserted into the gash on your noggin as you are flying through the air, and the title of the thread is 'My backing plate got bent?"

I cant wait to see what you say when you really have a bad day:):):)

Im glad you are ok BTW !!!:xyxthumbs

LOL

Well I just kinda looked at it like this, yeah my car only had 15K on it, yeah it was only two years old, it was a nice color (catseye blue met.) , and it was a car that I had planned on keeping for awhile. But, I was also kind of thinking about other cars, and since my trade in was about 75+/- what we owed, I woulda been killed on trade in:p . I was just happy that I was alive. I mean I almost went into shock and had pretty high blood pressure for some reason. *most likely cause it scared the sh.. crap outa me) It pissed me off when I saw the plate was broke though. I mean hell, I had about six cars to do the week after the wreck! One I really wanted to do, a restored Dodge Charger. I did have bad day not too long ago, and couldn't post any of the things I was saying on here, all I woulda got was a bunch of ****'s lol. Cause when we went to try and get a new car all the places we went to had nothing we liked, and the ones that had something we liked had terrible financing. But the key to life is be positive, even when things are bad or you'll need a prozac the size of a miata:p .
