My Arizona detailing trip

Just outstanding. Probably my favorite thread in quite some time...given the quality here, that's a high compliment for sure. Helps that I have roots in both Tucson and Phoenix, but still....awesome trip summary, and wonderful pics of terrific work. Thank you!

just wondering how well does 205 with a orange pad work for light swirls and scratches by the way great work

Works pretty well assuming the defects aren't too deep or severe. Need pressure and slow passes. Only the G8 was a true correction, the rest were basic details, other than some #105/orange on the trunk lid of the yellow Mustang to remove some moderate swirls.

Actually, I was able to wash the sand and other nasties off from the snow in Dallas and the drive out to Arizona while I was there...and to show my customer (with the silver Mustang) how much confidence I have in ONR, I used the ONR solution I used on his car to clean mine!

Oh yeah, here is a driving video (exciting, eh?) while going through New Mexico at a little over 75 mph and getting an indicated 30.1 mpg (which as usual, was optimistic!) although doing the math showed 26.4 mpg-not bad considering the speed and that my car is EPA rated at 26 mpg and that isn't at 77 mph!

Talking Heads playing on the stereo in case anyone cares.

That is why I am a big fan of the VQ35 platform. The 5.5 gen maxima's were always my favorites. Very surprisingly quick cars (former 2001 owner here).

i used to live near phoenix (AVONDALE).......i miss that damn place.....the weather was great.....and alot of beautiful and willing women.......its alot funner then my home town of NOR-CAL (bay area)

Definitely has some balls. Modified airbox (GAB), NWP block plate and a Warpspeed test pipe have helped a bit too. :)

LS1-MEX-didn't realize how much I missed the area until I was back. The extra 3 mpg city mileage was nice too, you don't stop at every single freakin' light like you do in the Dallas area. Plus Arizona Mexican food ftw! :bow

Your Max looks great Scott after the little "incident" at your brother's house. I still love that color on the 5.5 gens. I don't know why but I always thought you had a 6 speed. When I saw the shot with the tach at 3,000 doing 80 I was surprised until I noticed it was an auto. These Max's on the highway are great aren't they? I can't think of too many cars in this price range that will cruise so comfortably at 80 while still getting such great mileage. I'm amazed to see you're at 170k miles! The car looks great.

As usual great work on the Arizona cars. That G8 GXP has me drooling. Especially in my favorite color black. It and the Cadillac CTS-V are probably the only two GM cars I'd happily sell my Maxima for.

As for the weather? It's been a strange year to be sure. Here in Colorado Springs I think our biggest storm has been maybe 6 inches...at very best. Mostly we've been getting piddly little 1-3 inch storms but also a lot of 1 inch ice type storms. I don't like these. I'd rather have a nice 12+ storm, you know, like Dallas gets!

GREAT write-up! I enjoyed following along in the adventure and i'm happy for you that everything turned out well.

Outstanding work Scott

I had a Place Racing CAI, Cattman exhaust, custom SFC's, and valve body modification (auto tranny :() Is yours a 6 speed? I was also going to swap to the larger pathfinder TB before I sold it.

Stepped up the power game since going to a WRX, but still miss my Maxima at time. Mostly, when I am driving down the highway, or just want to cruise and not be on red alert.

Great job as always on the detail.

Should have stayed in Phoenix. Another dreadful 10 day forecast. 5 days of rain and still highs in the 40s and 50s. Supposed to be low 60s by now for highs. :(

This has been by far the coldest and wettest winter I can remember in the last 20 years. Where is my global warming?
