ok guys this is my apologies to tyler holdon or holdon_c4. now i know this thread is for before and afters but i think my apologie will be seen more here so i posted it here! over the last few days we all know and seen what has become of this guy. me at the moment got caught up in a frenzie of this guy who beliitled other members and truthfully i think hurt an image as a PROFESSIONAL DETAILER. by no means am i saying im the best nor do i portray that. what i am saying is i dedicated the last 11 years to this business and over time i have suffered from beginers who say i can do this and ruin a car, and then hurt the image of other detailers who make a living and put food on there plates, and family members plates by honest hardwork in this business. ill admit i over reactted and trashed this kid for the things i thought he did wrong. ill admit i still feel what he did was wrong, but my apology is for my over reacting and not being professional about it. instaed of offering some advice i belittled him. to me im just as much of a culprit as he is. so tyler i am sorry. i was raised to have integrity and i stand by it! i will learn from this and hopefully you and others do. so in the mean time thank you for reading this. again im sorry!

barry!

while there are always two sides to every story (i'm not sticking up for anyone), this should of been handled through pm's/phone conversation (if it were possible) to hopefully resolve the issue with apologies, miscommunication, etc, etc,.. sometimes you just invite others to participate with negative energy when they don't know the whole story and if it was any/part of their business in the first place.. in anycase... i don't like seeing drama like this, I Love Autopia for the more positive aspects that we all have known to admire and love...

Well said Barry. You're a good man and I don't care what anyone says about you ;)! As for Tyler bashing, yeah he's probably had enough so I speak for myself when I say that I'm laying off (Hulk voice: MUST RESIST!). He knows he flubbed up big-time and so does the rest of the world... or at least 1/4 of it anyway (it's still early). If what I said about him is considered as bashing (I just stated the facts and my opinions) I won't apologize for them and Mr. Norwood knows exactly why (also for putting my company's name at risk because of your fiasco).

I say we just let the thing go, retract our fangs and let it be a lesson to all of us, as our words shall not inflict any more harm on Tyler than his own hands have already done.

I sure the hell hope I never screw up that badly! :bolt

Al, I always like how helpful you are to detailers, but we can't stick out heads in the sand and pretend like it never happened. IMO if I knew of this situation and did not disclose it, I feel that I would be as guily as he is. What happens if there where more dishonest people and we just kept it private and let them get away with it. More and more cleints would never trust a detailer.

Actually, after reading the threads I discovered that this issue was in fact attempted to be handled in a civil and private manner. The parties involved were just doing what they had to do to shed some light on the subject as the guilty party wasn't responding. Also, this is a public forum, designed to let people know what you are and aren't capable of doing, and for others to do so to you, as well.

Barry,

Very good of you to speak up like this.

I think it is pretty rare when anyone does something so bad that their reputation should be completely trashed in public. It simply isn't necessary. We all make mistakes, and often times we don't handle our mistakes in the best way.

I try my best to give people the benefit of the doubt. Burn me once, shame on you. Burn me twice, shame on me. That said, I always feel better when I at least give a person a chance to redeem themselves.

We don't know all of the facts here. Quite possibly, we never will. And that issue alone makes it necessary to have more patience in on-line communities.

From what I have read, the accusations are based on the story from one customer. It seems that many here have made judgments and statements that may be unfounded and quite harsh.

People sure are quick to jump on the hateWagonMobRule in general.

Correct me if I am wrong.

I have seen the vehicle in question and can verify the damage done. That said I should have been more resonpsible with my original post and while I did try to avoid any bashing (I believe I did) I shoulder some responsiblity for stirring the stories that where floating around on the net and putting them in a mixing bowl.

David and I have pm'd over this, and while I don't completely agree with his decision, I am going to respect his wish that I take a volunteery time out. My verison of the truth is that I don't feel bad necessarly for the party in question, but I do feel bad for dragging this forum for the drama involved with my post. This is David's business and he HAS to make sure that drama is kept to a minimum. I'll see you guys in 60 days and I am sorry for dragging this to autopia.org!

Todd

That's sucks....

I also understand where both DavidB & Todd are coming from, but I don't feel 1 bit bad for the guilty party and I am sorry that this forum has somehow received a temporary "black eye" for this activity. (Even though memberships probably went up. :D) Things *could* take a turn for the better if the person in question rectified his poor decisions and took responsibity for his misjudegement. He'd still be a hack in my book though.

well said...

We're all human; especially the ones that claim to be more.

I've done things much worse at his age. So, no stones to cast. Just a few pebbles...

60 day self-imposed suspension is just silly. Even though we all got a bit carried away and even became close to a mob over the Lambo, I believe serving a 60 day suspension is counter-productive. There are a lot of people that come on this website to learn from some of the best detailers in the world. Spring is coming and that is by far the season that this website gets visited the most. So asking and then agreeing to the suspension of a detailer that helps as much as anyone is foolish!!!

How many customers will not have their trim burned on their exotics in the future because of the thread?

This is a fantastic website that has valuable information and fortunatly a business owner can still run his business the way he seems fit (this might not last for long in the country, see auto man. and banks). But to be without one of your superstars during the time you are most visited is, is well unhealthy.

One of the few reasons I visit this site is to catch up on what Todd has been doing.

So I just thought I would take a moment to stick up for Todd and give my 2 cents on the situation. After this Congress passes everything they want to, it might be my last 2 cents. But to me it was money well spent. Anyways, Todd this is the busy season for me getting cars ready for the spring shows as well it probably is for you too!!

It's an internet forum sort of thing, I mean, people always over-emphasize their emotions. I've done it, and I know many others have done it. It takes a while for us to learn that it's just the internet, and that we need to hold our tongues back. This can be a lesson to many...... it happens.

do you understand self-imposed?:nixweiss

I appericate the support, but please understand this is David's livelyhood and he HAS to protect it. Let's not make a big deal out of nothing! We had a misunderstanding, David still provides a great site for ALL of us to learn from and that is what it is supposed to be about!

What did he do?

OP, There are hacks in every industry. To keep the standards high, you just gotta keep doing what you're doing. Their business will slowly fade... unless we need to be licensed

Todd getting a temp ban? Bit fetched don't you think? He made everyone aware of the situation and hopefully others will learn to not tackle jobs they can't handle. Proper licensing, proper insurance are all musts.

But whatever, no one listen's to the little guys anymore.

I don't want to get banned but I gotta say I can't believe Todd is getting a temp. ban. I thought he approached the situation in a very professional manner. He isn't even the one who first said who it was that detailed the car someone else was. Besides that the person in question seems to be by his own admission working in the US illegally and not paying any taxes here, in my book that is a SERIOUS issue that needs to be dealt with. That type of person in cheating all of us who are citizens and those of us who are legally allowed to work here. The latter of those two I am sure spent some serious time and money to be here legally and they are being short-changed and getting a bad name because of people like this. If Todd is willing to accept it then fine, but it doesn't seem right to me. Good luck to you all.
