My annual "I hate Summer thread"....

Do you ever notice how the media is never happy with the weather? It either too warm, too cold, too windy, too humid, rains for too long? Your region could be in a drought, then they'd wish for rain. Then its "Aw...too much rain, I wish it would stop (Did they forget about the drought or something?)

Too cold, they want heat. Is anybody ever really happy about their weather?

Well Im certainly not. And Im in So Cal, where the weather is allegedly "perfect". Something to justify an average home price above 1/2 a million dollars. In my opinion, "perfect", would consist of something called seasons. You know, something providing evidence that the Earth actually does navigate around the sun? Like Cold, warming, warmest, cooling? Like 4 seasons?

Its April 12th, and April 11th was 92 degrees. And todays forecast?

SOME OF THE WARMEST VALLEY LOCATIONS COULD SOAR INTO THE UPPER

90S ON SUNDAY...WHILE THE LOWER MOUNTAINS AND ANTELOPE VALLEY WILL

LIKELY REACH THE 90 DEGREE MARK.

TEMPERATURES WILL APPROACH RECORD LEVELS ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE

SOUTHLAND THIS WEEKEND...WITH A FEW LOCATIONS EXPECTED TO BREAK

RECORDS EACH DAY.

This just tells me, Summer has arrived in So Cal, a couple months early. Call it global warming, call it what ya want...........Summer sucks. I hate the heat, and love everything else......

"Hey Summer, I'll leave the back door open for ya........dont let it hit ya in the ash when ya leave":nana:

I'm in So Cal. about 2 miles from the ocean. Lived here 15 years and only complained twice about the heat. I barely use my furnace and do not have AC. My advice is to move closer to the Ocean!

Im 17 miles from the coast (as the crow flies) but at 1000 elevation......Just on the other side of the Santa Monica Mts....

Yeah I know but the air just seems to get trapped in the basin.... nothing like that coastal breeze!!! Even on a 90 degree day being on the coast makes it much more bearable

I was born and raised in Venice (well not born there since there's no hospital, was actually born in Santa Monica).. hence my opinion

Regarding the weather NEVER being what people want IE in the winter saying "It's too cold" and in the summer saying "it's too hot" or when they dont live in a region that snows they "want snow".... perfect example of the grass looking greener on the other side!

i feel you patrick, living in the inland empire the summer can be brutal when you have 90+ degree temps almost everyday...

Just saw a love bug today :nervous2: There's not too many words in a Southern Autopian's vocabulary that'll strike fear like the afore mentioned devil pest!

Geez, it has been about 20 years since I drove through FL and I still remember stopping to clean those darn things off our windshield so we could see to drive!

Try Palm Springs/Palm Desert in the summer, a nice 120 degrees. I hate the heat, but at least it is a dry heat for the most part. Now, Texas or Florida, man, I could not live there, hot and humid.

SoCal residents are the biggest weather wimps. We're always complaining about our weather. If you have to live here though, I agree that near the beach is where you have to be. That's where the temps are the most moderate.

I'm just glad I don't live in BFE Inland Empire! I'd almost rather endure Fresno, or even Vegas heat instead of dealing with not only the heat but all that heat AND smog! Sorry IE folks!

Hey, at least we can see the air we breathe. :chuckle:

I'll take hot cali weather in an instant! more eye candy and little humidity. try 106 with 100% humidity and not a breeze in sight. that grows hair on your chest.(and cancer on your skin)

Actually Florida is not that bad during the summer, I've lived here in SC since 06 and would gladly take a Fl summer then a SC summer. It literally takes your breath away when you step outside. Fl being surrounded by water (90%) keeps the a bit cooler, I'm close to the coast but the heat here is awful. About the only time I miss Fl is during the summer.

If you like four seasons as I do, then West Michigan has perfect weather! Snow in the winter and occasional 90 degree summer days. Only problem is not much sun during the coolest six months of the year. We're now in "April showers bring May flowers" mode.

Not many $500K homes here, due to our economy our #1 export is people!

Whistler and Blackcombe Mountains north of Vancouver BC, highest vertical drop in North America, spring skiing, snow bunnies everywhere, sun, wine, skis glistening with UPGP and a carnauba topper,

now that's livin'
