Hi guys,



Okay, I dont want to hijack JDookie thread.. He have similar subject as me. Today was my 1st time using rotary, I have Makita 9227.

My car is 1999 Honda Accord Heather Mist color(metalic). I always took car this car from the day I bought it till now. Yada,yada, I dont to bore you guys. Here's see for yourself....Photobucket shrunk my pic :( I hate that.

Looks nice! Which rotary do you have?

Which products/pads/speeds were you running at?



Photobucket only shrinks your pics because the file sizes are too big. If you resize the files down to more easily-viewed sizes, you won't have a problem.

- Makita 9227

- LC 7.5" Orange pad( I could use Yellow if I want, but I dont have enoguh swirls in my car to show you :( )

- Poor boy SSR2.5@1500

- AIO on PC w/LC white pad

- 4*UPPx1 so far.

- Didnt bother with LSP yet. Fill up couple of layers of UPP 1st.
 
Did you prime your pads at all before polishing? If so, what did you prime them with?

Did you have any problems with the machine hopping?

Haha I shrunk the size..Now it way too big...oh well.

Yes, I primed the pad w/Meg QD. I have few hops, I think what's causing it.....was cake/gummed.
 
If you downloaded the XAT Image Optimizer, click on the 3rd button from the top on the left column (4 arrows pointing to the center). That's the resize button. I always resize pics to 800pixels. That seems to fit the screen size very well.

Haha silly me, I didn't resize it. No need XAT, I have photoshop.

Okay, I have it set at 800x600...so now it shoud be okay.
 
Did you use some kind of sealant with a PC or something. I was just wondering if you can use a rotary alone and get by without the PC. I'm thinking about getting a rotary my self since it seems to be more effective than a PC.
 
Mark77, you can "get by" with the rotary alone but you have to consider its downsides:



1. you can quickly burn paint if you're not careful

2. it takes a while to get used to it so you need to practice on test panels

3. it's more expensive than a PC

4. you probably won't need it as often you think you will. After all, how often will you correct paint defects?



The PC has a lot of advantages over the rotary



1. it can't burn paint unless your pad is on fire :D

2. you can use it right away on your #1 car; it can do *most* of the things that a rotary can do but take a little longer which gives you a huge margin for error

3. it's a lot cheaper than the rotary

4. you can use it every week to layer LSPs like sealants and waxes.

Maybe you are right, I really don't correct paint defects often, but I would like to be able to do so. A rotary is expencive, but it probably lasts very long too, so i cold use it many many years, and I'm curious how it works. So I think I'll get one anyway.
