Must own waxe's? looking to grow my collection

I fully agree!

My opinion would be, "Don't believe the hype."

IMO if folks spent as much time learning about polishes and how to use them, then they did about waxes or LSPs in general, their finish would look much better.

I have one had one client request a specific wax, they supplied it and I used it.

I have 915 and 476 with me on every detail, but have not used them in a while.

Polishes vs Waxes is a case of the pro vs the home detailer. I can't keep polishing my cars because I will run out of paint but I can keep trying new waxes. The pro's don't usually see the car (until much later) after they use whatever LSP they use.

yakky- Once you get the wash sorted out, there shouldn't need to be much polishing :D So I guess *I* woulda said something along the lines of how people oughta give more thought to the wash (and how the vehicles get treated in general) than their LSPs. Guess that'd be a real party-pooper type of digression though :o

Then yeah, with marring/etc. off the table...if you want to do something for the sake of, well...just doing some detailing, trying different LSPs might be rewarding and you might stumble across some LSP that's perfect for the application.

Don't forget about claying. And then there is the occasional marring from whatever, so yeah, polishing is a fact of life if you want to maximize the shine from your paint.

well said...

Clearkote's Carnauba Moose, especially if you have solid red or black paint but it looks excellent on anything. You can apply it at pretty much any above freezing temperature too, full sun isn't a problem either.

Another one to consider is Optimum Car Wax. Don't underestimate it because it is a spray. It is absolutely one of the best looking LSPs regardless of price.

If you feel you must spend the money for an expensive wax, Wolfgang Fuzion is really good.

Yeah I do like my optimum spray wax and my opti seal, i just really want to be able to offer my customers a "carnauba wax" not even sure that's how its spelled lol. Anyway, scottwax thanks for the suggestion Ill look up that clear kote stuff. Im probably gonna go for the p21 s100 as my "boutique wax" since I can get it locally for $40 or less, and the p21s concours I believe was its name for $25. I will have to chose something else.... anyone think I shouldn't go for the p21s 100?

If you're looking for a great wax you can (usually) pick up locally, I'd look for Megs #26.

I find that offering a slew of LSP options gives you and the customer a number of options for providing the exact type of protection/look they are looking for. I have Natty's Red, Pinnacle Souveran, Meguiar's M16, Collinite 476s, Meguiar's NXT 2.0 and Poli-Seal in my detailing bag at all times. They all have their own individual uses and fit pretty much every scenario I've encountered so far.

40 bucks sounds good, it's usually 45-50 online plus shipping! I can't comment on the wax itself since I've never used it but...that price seems like a no brainer to at least try it out!

Yeah, especially on black/red/etc. where you want that "deep, rich" look :xyxthumbs

Well, I gotta say that I don't polish my vehicles even once a year, not even close, and I'd fancy myself pretty particular about how they look. But hey, that's just me and everybody's situation is gonna be different.

I'm glad to hear you both saying this. I plan on using this for the first time next week and am not really sure what to expect. I hope I'm impressed!

(sorry, I don't have a must own wax...I'm not that experienced just yet...carry on)

So you don't clay or you don't get marring after claying?

Thanks for all the responses so far, keep them coming, id like to see who all agrees on what. I can find that p21-s here locally at wholesale cost any else use that brand of wax? Your thoughts are appreciated. Also I remember autogeek doing some special on that fuzion, is it still available?

We had the 3oz Fuzion jars buy one get one free. The promotion is over, but give me a call directly at 1-800-869-3011 ext 213 and I'll honor it. :2thumbs:

2k1AmberR/T- Even it the #26 doesn't knock your socks off, it's not like you'll have a fortune wrapped up in it. It might be a car/color-dependent thing, besides that "eye of the beholder" factor. See what you think...

I spot-clay as needed at every wash and often clay before refreshing LSPs. I use Sonus green clay with lots of Glyde, and the most off-the-deep-end technique you can imagine (nothing like how I clay if I'm gonna polish) with no resultant marring to speak of.

Heh heh, just like with my wash technique, anybody watching me clay would probably say "sheesh, [screw] that, I'd rather just get it done and polish now and then!"

NO, no... I'm not saying that vehicles that've gone unpolished for years couldn't benefit from a little sprucing up, but I can keep 'em awfully nice for a long, long time without any polishing. Deep marring (like gotta-use-M105-deep) doesn't happen very often. And eh....I have a "life's not a car show" approach to this stuff.

I try to keep mine in original paint (and/or be careful with repainted areas), and since I can keep vehicles for decades that almost dictates very limited polishing.

Winner, winner...chicken dinner!

My overal favorite is Swissvax Insignis. Souveran is nice to apply and remove, bit it doesn't even last throug one wash. CG Pete's '53 is great value for money and so is Lusso Oro.

But yes, Collinite 845 is excellent stuff. Really good beading, too.

Autogeek always comes through, I just wish I would have read the Post sooner! I ended up going with the p21 s100... can I top this off with opti seal? Would it help any? Should I let it cure for a certain period, your suggestions are appreciated.
