Muscle/economy Or BOTH ?

That is some nice MPG out of your car. I don't know if you would call mine a muscle car but weighing in at over 4000 lbs with me in it, it being a V6 that puts out 323 HP according to GM and a little more with my bolt-ons I like the fact that I can run mine hard sometimes and still average 27.5 this time of the year. On an 800 road trip about 120 miles into the first fill up I was actually averaging 34 MPG. Got to the big city 200 miles into that tank still reading 32 MPG. But on the way back the next day I took a different route and not the freeway and ran into I don't know how many red lights. Ended up around 28.5. Best tank to date is 29.2. It may not be a V8 but it is fun to drive.

Oh, and this is just a 2012 Camaro and not the fancy C7 that I am jealous of you owning! Wanna trade? :lol2:
 
Best I can get in my 2009 S60 Volvo (2.5T) is right at 30 MPG. It is slightly modded with CAI and 3" cat back Down Pipe and Stainless touring exhaust. Hoping to get the ECU reprogrammed. Car is not a muscle car, by any means, but is plenty quick and with me in it is probably approaching 4000 lbs. Could be the best car I have ever owned.
 
I have four gas guzzlers....I would never turn back. I dont own a car under 300 horsepower. Cadillac Eldo 300Hp, Jaguar XKR 365Hp, Mercury Cougar 300Hp, Saleen 385Hp. My gas budget runs about 250.00 per month. I love EVERY minute of it. I bring my cars to the details I do. My clients OGGLE in my cars. It really helps my business!!!! I love what I do!!! Lastly, I hate to brag, because all my gifts are just that, gifts, only on loan for as long as the man above allows. I treat all my toys as gifts, with the Acception of every now and then. Usually if there are no cops around, which is hard where I live. They DON'T like Saleens in particular fast loud ones

I would have guessed that a bit high for a factory HiPo engine. Would have thought maybe 185 degrees. New engines certainly run a bit warmer than old hot rods. I've been wrong before.

I thought most engines run with a 190 F thermostat -- at least every engine I have owned in the last 40 years.
 
40 years ago they ran 160's and 180's. They've crept up since then. I think some of the GM"s are 187's. I haven't looked and really have no idea what's available or recommended for a perfomace engine like that one. Gotta go look now.
 
I think it would be pointless to have a water temp gauge stop at the same temp the thermostat is designed for, how would you know that you were overheating until something serious happened then? So it just makes sense that the gauge has a range that goes higher than the thermostat is designed to open at.

This was my point in suggesting the Stat was lower than actual temp.
 
The digital guage on the new vette says 205-210 is normal, running higher that earlier gens due to epa/tune. The analog guage you get is very inaccurate at 215-220. But still normal.

Does it have a 190 thermostat?
 
My 325 hp 2011 Camaro gets over 30mpg on open road. Handles better than a V8 model because its balanced better front to back and not nose heavy. I've driven both. Is it a muscle car? My 68 327 was only 300 hp, and most would consider that a muscle car.
