It was about 3 weeks since I last had a chance to clean up my personal car. She was looking rough! Subject in question.

Started off cleaning the wheels and tires. BF APC used on the tires and wheel wells

This is my favorite APC as its so versatile. I use 4:1 for tires, but you could probably cut it to 6:1 + and still be effective. I add 1 oz of BF APC to my wash water when I want to strip the LSP, for bugs when I am reapplying an LSP. I also use it on interiors @ 10:1. Ive tried OPT Powerclean, I like this one much better. BF doing its thing on the tires

Look at the grime pulled off the tire, really a big fan of these brushes for tires as well. Stiff but no overly and a great shape for cleaning the entire tire. Also great for getting in narrow wheel wells.

For the wheels I used soap, megs hyper wash here, as Im not fan of it on paint. Wheel are wearing a month old coat of Prima Hydro seal. Easy clean up.

I usually let me brushes soak in the wash solution for about 5 mins. before starting, it softens the bristles just enough to help ensure they wont scratch.

I was a little put off by the price of the Dayton wheel brush, but after the first time I used it I understood what all the fuss was about. Its awesome for wheels! Its soft and has a ton of bristles to get behind the spokes. I have seen and hear about people breaking them off at the handle. Here you can see, because of the length of the bristles you may not even have to bend the brush to get behind them, just adjust your angel a few time and you can get in there very well. On tighter wheel designs this may not be possible, I have a chearper coated wire wheel brush I use for those.

Next it was time to mix up the wash water.

Directions call for 2-3oz in a 5 gallon bucket, this is a pet peeve of mine! I assume it higher for folks that have hard water, I was using about 3.5 gallons, I used 2 oz

TONS of suds!
28_ATO_review_September192012_zps1128b67d.jpg
This is a fantastic no frills soap. It wont add gloss, and is gentle yet very effective. Lubricity is a 9 of 10, not a slick as my favorite Dodo BTBM but this soap is top tier for sure. The smell is delicious! I cant pinpoint it but if I could lick it I would! Continued below

Not really sure why but my format is sure all JACKED UP! Here is what is left of my hydro wash, after about an hour suds are still going strong till the end.

For the bugs and more contaminated areas I hit them with Poorboys bugs squash after the pre rinse.
12_ATO_review_September192012_zps9dfd2c57.jpg
@3:1 bug squash is LSP safe. If it doesnt remove the fallout on its own after letting soak for about 30 seconds, it definatly makes it safer to remove without as much aggitation. I go through a lot of bug squash in the winter as I use it as a pre soak to loosen up the salt residue on vehicles. Really a must have product. BS doing its thing

After washing it was time to dry. I like to use a drying aid, usually a quick detailer or a spray wax. This time I was trying a new mix. Prima Hydro with a touch(about and ounce) of Hydro Seal
8_ATO_review_September192012_zps8dd221a7.jpg
I read a post somewhere when Nick from Prima suggested this, its Hydro on steroids! I have used just hydro seal in the past, just put a spray head on it instead of the regular flip top and it works great. Seeing how hydro is much less expensive and my hydro seal is only about a month and a half old, I thought I would give this a shot.

The key is less is more, dont use a ton of product or you are going to get streaking and it makes drying a PITA. I over applied on my roof and had to make several passes to clean it up. About 2 sprays per panel is plenty. Hydro leaves a ton of gloss and slickness. Not sure about the boost in protection but with a touch of hydro seal I cant think it would hurt. After drying it was time for the final set. Get the tire and wheel wells dressed. Tires got OPT tire shine

Wheels got CG barebones, NOT Megs hyper dressing
44_ATO_review_September192012_zps0559aa51.jpg
I really like OPT tire shine, leaves a nice gloss that is dry to the touch. Its not a gel but not a liquid either. It is very easy to spread though. This product seems to take me to my next wash so durbility is good. What I also notice that I dont with other dressings is the my tires dont seem to get as dirty? Weird I know, but I like it! I saturate my applicator and apply.

Nice shine! Dressed vs not dressed

Here is the before CG barebones

And after
46_ATO_review_September192012_zpsf39ae351.jpg
Barebones is the only product in this review that I wouldnt recommend you buy. Its OK, not great, very oily and its not just spray and walk away. If you do you can see the runs in an open wheel well, such as a truck. The durbility isnt there either. When my gallon is gone I wont replace it. I have better luck with Megs hyper dressing and its a much more versitily product with surprising better durability. So there you are, try them all, but Id skip the barebones. Everything else is stellar and will always have a spot reserved on my detailing shelves.
