Mr.clean magic eraser screw up

First off I'd like to say high guys, I'm new here

I have a question being a noob. I had some scuffs that were on the black textured plastic kick plates in my G37. With the advice of others, I used a Mr.clean magic eraser with some highly diluted APC and lightly scrubbed the scuffs. The scuffs are gone, but now there is this white blotch where I scrubbed at. I went back over it a few times with some soap and most of it went away, but some of it's still there. What did I do to my trim? I can't get this white blotch to go away.

I used 303 dressing but I prefer not to cover it up. I want it to go away. I even tried warm water and soap together and it still wont go away. I just don't know what to do. Can anyone please help me? Thanks in advance!

I've not tried the ME on interior trim, but those pads are mildly abrasive, so it's likely that you just dulled/removed part of the finish. Can you snap a few pics?

Id take pics now but it's dark outside. You can only catch it in the sunlight at an angle.

If I removed the finish, how come washing it a few times lightened most of it up?

I could be wrong, it was just a thought, which is why I ask for pics. ;)

Most automotive trim is painted vinyl. I've seen several recommendations of using ME on vinyl scuffs and cringed at that suggestion. I've seen a few dashes and kick panels after this approach and know how destructive a ME can be. If it doesn't remove the finish it likely will change the finish texture.

One of the first rules when attacking scars and blemishes it to not make the situation worse. In that light I'd recommend that anyone who is thinking of using a ME solution to consider this as a last resort option and be prepared for the worst.

You may want to try applying a vinyl conditioner to see if you can darken the spot and even off the finish a bit. I expect it will never look normal. If that does not hide the marring enough to suit your expectations you might contact a furniture repair expert who can likely repair the texture and airbrush the area to make it look original again.

Try using a trim restorer or what others have recommended. If it doesn't work and it still bugs you..consider replacing the kick plate.

What trim restorer do you guys recommend? I'm not looking for a dressing, but more of something permanent.

Black trim? Try Forever Black. I have used it on faded black bumper inserts and it brings them back. You may have to do multiple coats to get the right level of "eveness" in the finish.

GTechniq C4 is a permanent trim restorer and should darken the marring.
