Moving to a Toyota Tacoma for mobile detailing, help me build it!

I'm personally driving a Honda Pilot as a DD and also for mobile detailing for the moment (Lexus IS-F and GT-R on the weekends ). My brother is going to college soon and he'll probably take the Honda Pilot with him. I've been been looking into getting a truck for a while and I've narrowed it down to the 4dr Toyota Tacoma.

I'm pretty new to the truck world and I know there are TONS of truck bed cover out there (which is the first thing I'm going to purchase since it does rain once in a while in Houston and also avoiding theft). So I'll need your help on this.

Other than that, I'm also looking into exterior/interior mods, performance mods.

What are your takes on this vehicle?

My take is, get the 6' bed.

I have a 2009 4 door with a 5' bed. Got a jam up deal on it but I really could use that extra foot.

I have a 2011 Chevy Silverado CrewCab Short Bed. I use it as my mobile rig. I use the BAK Flip for the cover, & have a 40gallon low profile tank that sits under the cover along w/ a honda gx p/w and honda gx 3100 watt generator all mounted on a skid that fits perfectly in the bed. I like it because it allows me to keep the cover on and I never have to remove the skid for any reason. I have a couple toats I throw all my chemicals and polishers and towels in and I'm good to go. I just ordered the Mytee Lyte but that should be able to fit in the crew cab w/ the seats folded up. Plenty of room w/o having to haul a big trailer or what not when trying to get into tight spaces.

Really? A gt-r for the weekends? And you support that with mobile detailing. Really?

This forum is so far gone...

I thought I read that as what cars he is going to work on the weekends. What was I thinking? :D

Damn Jimmy, calling him out without knowing anything about him huh? what if he has a great dot com thing going (or any other business) and detailing is just a fun, on the side gig?

Haha! Yes, detailing is full time and I do have a shop as well. Building this rig for mobile services. Currently using a Honda Pilot.

I also do real estate. So I'm blessed with these cars!

I am glad to see you around the forums, Jimmy Buffitt. :wavey

From what I know of you, you have a solid business and a strong clientele

And you know your stuff!

I used a 2009 tacoma trd off road 4 dr 6' box for a year. I had to "add-a-leaf" spring in the back to hold up the 100 Gallons of water and equipment. If you go with something like a 40 Gallon tank you can use the factory springs as it won't be too heavy. They are rated for ~700lbs payload in the box. My water and gear was something like 1300 lbs. It eventually became too small for all of my gear and products so I went with a cargo van instead.
