Mother's PowerPolish

Just an update

I contacted Forrest - he works at mothers and post replies on the mothers forum, about my bad bottle of MPP. Forrest was kind enough and he send me MPP batch # 2A5034. Definitely it gets much ticker after lass than 2 minutes of shacking. Good guy - good service. I was pleasantly surprised. I may get interested more in mothers products just because of his response :)

IMO Mothers makes some really good stuff and definetly worth more interest.

I returned my original bottle next day and checked other once pepboys had (only 2) both did not change after shacking like crazy at the store :)

I can't complain about the service either.

When MPP first came out I bought a couple from a US e-tailer and it was from the initial bad batch. I contacted Forrest and he sent me two replacements with free shipping...to Australia!! :bigups

BTW, even the *bad* batch works very well...its just watery and sprays easily if not spread well before turning on your PC.

A week ago I was able to work on my friends car – finally. As planed I used MPP, started with green DAS pad than with orange DAS pad. Used PC – applied MPP with speed setting at 3 and worked in till polish was gone at 5 to 6. I was happy with MPP but unfortunately I was not able to remove all of the scratches  . Since I am new with PC I thin this is an operator error. How fast should I move PC along the panel? How much pressure? to get maximum results from MPP. I want to do some work on my fathers black car as well, and I hope for the better results.

Thanks for responses

Do I understand you correctly that you started with the green pad and finished off with the orange, or did you try the green and, when that didn't work, you moved to the orange?

Also, when you say "scratches", how bad are we talking?

I've been able to do serious correction with MPP so hopefully I can help. :)

You are correct I started with green - did not work - moved to orange. I did not think scratches were that bad (I'm newbie - don't have experience yet). I really think my technique is at fault. I wish I could see someone doing it right. I believe speed, pressure I moved PC along panels was not right :(.

Orange pad seams to be very stiff and the bumper I which had the most scratches is not flat as let say hood or roof so I found it hard to apply even pressure. Also, I did not want to add additional scratches so I was, probably, not aggressive enough.

For me, it took a lot of swirls out of my paint. However, I am still wandering if it works like MEGs DACP? Can anyone comment on this? IMOTHERS PP is a very nice product to have around.

I bought a bottle of Mother's Powerpolish for $5.00 on sale at Autozone in March and I used it for the first time last weekend.

My truck had the usual swirls and a few scratches and I went over the truck using MPP and an orange LC pad. I primed the pad with a large X like the bottle says then used one line of product for the rest of the truck. I spread the polish with speed 3 and polished at speed 5. The polish took out all of the fine and medium swirls but did not remove the deeper scratches. I was surprised that the MPP and orange pad left the surface almost LSP ready. Next time I am going to try SSR 2.5 with a orange pad then MPP with a white pad and top it with Natty's blue.

I was impressed with MPP. It has a good work time, it's very easy to remove, and it doesn't stain trim. I couldn't get it to remove deeper scratches but for a OTC polish it is great. It was my first time using a PC and it would probably work better with a more experienced detailer.

i was curious... would the powerpolish be similiar to that of #80 or OP?

Its not similar to #80, in that #80 is a traditional polish.

However, is sounds very similar to OP in its operation, which is a new gen polish.
