Most regreted detailing product purchase?

My luck was not good with PA`s Master final polish, only one pass and it was dry !
I tried less, tried more, priming. Just flash, dry. hard to wipe off as well.
I will try again because of the cost.
Now the big one..Meg`s 105, WOW!!
Should have a disclaimer " Not for Nubies " I tried this as my first ever compound, Man what a mess !
I had it everywhere, shoes, pants, t-shirt, arms, glasses, hair and face, I even found out what it tastes like.
White specks splattered on all trim and glass.
M205 is total opposite, that was fun.

This is why M100 and M101 exist.B)

Whoa that`s a surprise! Try shaking the bottle of Master Final Polish very well next time? That`s the only thing I can think of.....unless the panel was hot or in direct sunlight....

I`ve had good luck with the PA Final Polish. Worked well and wiped off easily. Give it another shot Mary.

Thanks Guys, makes me feel alot better about PA Polish. The PA compound is one of my favorites so I will def. try again & shake, shake, shake.

Sounds good and will try. thanks

Something that sort of fits in this conversation:

Meguiar`s #7...

Regulars here know that M07 isn`t my fave of the Meguiar`s Pure Polishes, but I do think it has one or two specific uses where it can be the #1 choice. But those don`t involve b/c paint, only single stage. I`ve simply never found M07 to be a good choice on b/c, at least not compared to other options.

I know it`s more for single stage, but when I first bought it I didn`t know any better. I should run out sometime soon and will replace it with blackhole most likely

ViperGuy21- Heh heh, I learned about the "M07 and b/c" the hard way too! Well, actually I learned the lesson with M03 but it`s the same basic story. I did a silver Audi with it, complete waste of time and effort (and M03 that I could`ve used on the Jag).

Yeah, the Black Hole is very popular and oughta be a good choice. I`ve found the BF GEP to be OK for this, but it wouldn`t surprise me if the Black Hole were better when you need real concealing. If I didn`t have so much old 1Z stuff I`d try the Black Hole on the `93 Audi.

For me 99% of Chemical guys products, Probably the worst was butter wet wax. On the other hand I love my Flex 3401.

How does that BF Black Hybrid Montan Wax compare to FK1000p?

I switched to the BF wax after I sold the Porsche. So far I really like it on my new Black Sapphire Metallic BMW X6. The FK looked a bit plasticky on my non metallic black 911 but I didn`t mind so much. I used to be a Zaino freak so I was used to that look. I got less spotting with FK compared to the 22PLE on the Porsche but that car`s paint never really cooperated with me. The BF doesn`t spot at all on the Bimmer and looks nice and wet. Slightly easier to apply and remove than FK as well. I could see myself waxing the BMW monthly whether it needs it or not. I use the BFWD spray after every wash and I really like that stuff. It`s as easy as Zaino Z6 and looks great, too!

Some day I may try a coating on the X6 but after the experience on both of my Porsches as well as my father`s black 991 I am not too keen on it.

Solution Finish did not last for me on several different vehicles. I cleaned the trim with IPA as instructed by Chris West the owner of SF. I see different people trying to top SF To try and lock in the look. It looks great soon after applying but just did not give the durability I was expecting. I have heard rumors of Chris working on a topcoat for SF, i guess we will see what happens

as for Tufshine, did not care for the look or durability. For the amount of prep work on the tires, the end result was just not worth it IMO.

Just my thoughts, of course your results may differ

I would say Wolfgang Fuzion is my most regrettable. It was one of my first purchases and since getting into coatings I just don`t use it anymore.

This is a "it was expensive and I just don`t use it" regret as opposed to a "product performance" regret?

It`s funny you say that about Solution Finish. I did an Avalanche with it a few months ago and it looks like crap now. I`m getting it back in a few weeks to re-do. I`m not using SF on it this time. DG has a beta trim coating that is dyed black (you can only use it on black trim) that I will be using on it.
