Just wondering what pad size you guys use most often for your rotaries. I have 8" pads for my Porter cable rotary that I'm replacing (but never use), and 5.5 and 6" for my PC. Do you prefer 6, 6.5, 7 or 8 inch pads and why?

I prefer 6.5 because I can easily swap them between machines and because I just like the feel of the smaller pads.

So now I see you guys like to use 6.5 inches...ahem, for buffing, guys, for buffing (:D), so now could you guys share your preferences on type and brand? I ask cuz I haven't seen any 6.5" pad other that Megs and foamed wool pads. I'd rather not use the Megs as they're pricey. I want a pad that is easily centerable too. Thanks a million.:yourrock

I use Lake Country ..either VC or CCS ;) and I do slightly tilt the rotary

Hmm, must've missed those. Probably right in front of my face.

You tilt too? I've likely been doing it all wrong then. I'll have to relearn once I get a rotary that actually has adjustable speeds. :wall

I wouldn't say wrong, it really depends on the pads you use ... if you use a flat pad it should be used flat, but certain pads are beveled at the edges for a reason ;) it makes it easier to get under mirrors and around curves ... tilting also comes with a downside ... more sling and the machine will tend to run a slight bit faster.
