Personal car I picked up on president's day. Used a Rupes with a medium cutting pad / HD Cut, followed up with a finishing pad / HD Speed. I'm not yet convinced Cut & Speed are the real deal, but we will see in a few weeks/months whether or not buffer trails return from the cutting step, although I must admit the Cut finished out really nicely and I just used speed afterwards because I knew there must be buffer trails I couldn't see under the midday sun. Used HD Total and a horse hair brush for the interior, then topped the very dry interior with 303 Aerospace twice. I'm hoping moisture returns to the dash if I keep applying 303 weekly.

Looks great!

I thought buffer trails were more of a rotary thing though. Can you end up with trails from a rupes?

Thanks everyone!

I thought buffer trails were more of a rotary thing though. Can you end up with trails from a rupes?

I have experimented with different products and have come to the conclusion that what appear to be buffer trails are easy to end up with depending on pad/product combo. I added Poxy to Speed once and the look is the sun was as if I used the Rupes to apply a sealant to the car and the sealant wouldn't come off, they were the worst "buffer trails" I've ever seen. I've also gone too light pressure during my finishing step and ended up with obvious signs of a buffer having gone over the area. For this Acura, though, my technique is good and my products I'm familiar with, so the reflections are all as perfect as they can be for a two-step. I removed all signs of any other detailer having been there.
