more GTR trickery

The GTR is a POS. Before it came out I thought it might be an impressive car. After seeing all of the problems that others have had and the car not being able to perform as advetied without voiding the warranty, the car is a let down. It was claimed to beat the Z06, which it can't. I think it would have a hard time taking down a bolt on C6.

I read LC will be taken out for the next cars. I guess people being mad about those 20k tranny bills made them look for a way out of that.

Cool car and all, but come on it comes with a traction control button they don't want you to touch it or you loose your warranty, **** that.

It's a shame that Nissan will not fix these trans. in these few cars that are broken.

I can already see the issues with having one of these cars at a non Nissan dealer and having some careless employee taking it out in the parking lot and trying LC just for fun. The warranty would be void without the customer even knowing.

Lawyers will be very busy with this car on many aspects.

Nissan has to resolve this issue with the broken transmissions, regardless if there was a contract with LC. If they installed the self destruct button that would blow it up, then they should be liable, especially for the hefty price tag of this car.

Nissan knows they have to fix them and that is why they are removing the system from the next models.

We shall see what the future brings to these cars and the issues. I can't wait to see when the first person blows an engine and Nissan says "NO WAY"! How much will it cost?

Personally, if I was in the Market to buy a high end sports car, it would be a Porsche.

The two I have worked on had impressions on the C-pillars from the shipping film application. GMBlack's had this as well. 3 out of 6 that I know about.

I did a black GTR for one of the owners of NAGTROC and a)he was great guy b)his car was awesome c)it was screwed up.

It's funny you mention the lines cause I know exactly what you are talking about, especially if you do a solvent wipedown, you can see the lines pop out at you.:bawling:

Todd, what was the thickness of the paint? Was it soft or hard?

What do you really expect for $80 grand? You're not buying a quality Porsche for $80 grand that has 480 horsepower. It's a Nissan, plain and simple.

i think the gtr is a great car, i think that for the power and weight it has it does more than waht it should. yes people say it will hit 11s some cars might most others wont. there is factory freaks out there that will do more then what a regular gtr will. as for the z06 i would take it any day over the gtr there has been people that have took a stock z06 put slicks on it and have broken into the tens. In my opion a z06 will beat a gtr in a straight line, for the road course the gtr hands down should win. as for the zr1 that is not even in the same league as the gtr. just my 2 cents

I agree with certain other comments, it is a Nissan and not an exotic, build quality doesn't appear to be as good as some would hope for what they paid. The launch control/transmission and warranty issue is a black eye for Nissan as is the whole Nurburgring "ringer" issue and exagerated claims. I'd like to drive one at the track, one showed up at Mid-Ohio this year when I was instructing but I really didn't get a chance to check it out as I was too busy.

Also, I don't have any first hand knowledge, but I would bet a new Z06 may be faster on a dry road course than the GTR. The GTR may have AWD, but it weighs 3,836 lbs and makes a purported 475 hp. A Z06 weighs 3,180 lbs and makes 505 hp. Despite the GTR AWD advantage, the Z06 is a very good handling machine and more power and a lot less weight would make it very formidable at the track. Although from most accounts, the GTR handles better which is surprising for its weight IMO.

I have a Nissan Frontier, I really like it, but there are some areas I don't feel the quality is as good as a comparable Toyota Tacoma. But, I still like the Frontier, my point is I am not in denial about the minor issues and build quality differences either.

Let's see if GM survives, it may all be moot if they go under (which I doubt with or without the recent "bailout"). Then again, how many times did people believe that Nissan was headed to the trash heap? The next few years could be interesting.

Regards,

Rich
