This was one of those cars that at first glance I thought wouln'd be bad at all...but ended up kicking my butt. Car was swirled but nothing that I thought that I couldn't handle...well it's driven quite a bit and it looks like winter ice storms had their way with this black paint. In the end the results were great but not as good as I had hoped for a 2004 car as swirls are gone but there are many defects / imperfections that were too deep for the following process to remove. There was also some nasty industrial fallout in the paint that felt like overspray and took forever to remove. Literally one pass with the clay bar would make it black!!!

Process and products

Z7 wash

Clay (1.5 hours worth and a full 200g bar)

SSR2.5 w/ Orange pad (many sections twice with this combo)

SSR1 w/ white pad

Zaino Z2-ZFX (x2) - old Z2 not pro. (customer request)

Pinnacle Soveran

Mothers polish on wheels

SG to seal wheels

Megs high endurance on tires

303 on dash and vinal

Z10 on leather

Enjoy the pics.

Unfortunatly no before shots...my battery was dead so I threw it on the charger and started working...it was swirled pretty badly but nothing uncommon for black which is why I was soo suprised when it took as much work as it did to remove all the swirling. The owner did state that it's a daily driver that gets lots of mileage in all weather conditions, and we've had a pretty nasty winter here in ohio.

Yes, that's my White M3 in the background...I was supposed to be installing my 19's and coilovers on my car on Sunday and detailing this car on saturday but we had a freak snow storm here saturday and had to move this car to Sunday. Look for more pictures of my M3 and my A4 when they both get into summer attire here in the next week!!!

Nice work.

You definetely could see the Z2 "brightens" up the paint. Kinda leave a white "glowing" effect.

Yep, Ohio definatley had one crazy winter... try living two hours north near the lake! I'm pretty sure we passed up the all time record for snowfall this year... we were about 3" away and after this weekends storm I'm sure we're over that mark.

HA! You said it didn't turn out as good as you expected. You're such an overachiever...

BTW, you did a great job on an awesome car. I'm guessing you only detail M3's? (jk)

nice detail. and nice ride too. i love that last photo, the wheels + the fender flares make it look really muscular. :)

Those rims do not belong on a BMW. Looking only at the rims, I would think the car was a Mustang or Camaro.

Nice job, BTW.
