More details, more making my kid slave for me in the hot sun

Its still 10 oC here, and rain everyday!!! We're usually in the drought, +30 oC weather already!!!! My detailing appointments keep getting cancled!

Sean-the weather here has really sucked the last half of May and so far into June. 5" of rain so far this month. Clouds, wind, etc.

I still really like both EX-P and NXT. NXT looks especially good to me on dark metallics like that 750.

I clay when needed. Most of my customers have their vehicles waxed very regularly, so I don't have to clay their cars often but almost always do with new customers.

I got Scratch X a while back to try it. Does a very good job at removing minor blemishes and paint transfers. Smells good too!

Scott,

Thanks for the illumination - I've never heard such a "nice" term for it before!

How great that arrangement can work for you & your son - you get to spend time with him & he gets to learn some valuable lessons!

Norahcrv

PS - what are "snow days" - JK! I do remember them from growing up in the "frozen north" (Canada).

PPS - Sorry about your weather, but any time y'all want to send some rain our way, AZ would be MOST grateful!!!!! - 5" is almost our ANNUAL total!!!

You call that snow?!?! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!

The name I have for snow would get me banned for language. I hate snow, it means I won't be working and once it melts, the cars will be filthy.

My daughter worked for me for 6 years. What she learned from me was so much more than detailing. She learned how to market, how to handle customers, what hard work was all about and most of all work ethic. today because of the skills I taught her she is making over $70,000.00 per year at the age of 29. Scott this will pay many bonuses down the road without either of you being aware of it.

Good for you and her. :up

My main goal with my son is to instill a strong work ethic in him and help develop a sense of urgency so he can complete work (no matter what kind of job) in a timely fashion and correctly as well.

He gets straight A's in school (he is taking some AP classes) and plays hockey and football as well as throwing the discus and shot put in track.

Scott,

Great job on the details as usual! :bow :bow :bow That Z8 looks sweet! :D Wet and reflective!

That is sooo cool that you are guiding your son so well. I had the oppertunity to work along side my Dad for many years. Some of the things I have learned from my Dad you could never learn from any school or university!

Keep up the great work Scott! :xyxthumbs

Cheers,

Scottwax - Great job...I love your detailing work! One question...I noticed that you use a variety of products. How do you determine which ones to use before you apply them such as the numerous waxes you have?

throwing the discus and shot put in track

i bet all that waxin gives him strong arms for that hehe.

Listen cos i noticed you like using #16....would u suggest i use that instead of #26 or layer it WITH #26 on a silver car?

I just go with my gut instincts. Seriously. I really don't think about it, I just go with my first thoughts after washing the vehicle and inspecting it.

On silver, I would go with #16. Clear and wet, looks great on silver. 2 coats, then leave it alone. It will looks nice for quite some time.

just out of curiosity ... how do you use the Scratch-X? By hand of PC ... i always thought it was made more for hand application. I love the stuff too, by the way, but i've always used it by hand. I am currently out ... but there are diff. things i will buy first cause at $8 its a little pricey for that little tube!

Lots of great stuff, Scott.

How has the PC been for you? Has it changed your product choices much and do you still do some things by hand?

The PC is working out fine. I still wax by hand though, with the exception of NXT since it seems to work best using the PC.

Watching the quality of work you do and so many others in here is the reason why I now see why detailing is not just a job or a hobby, its an Art.

All I can say is, its nice to see all of you take so much pride in the job you do. Today, this is a very rare and missed quality for most people.

I too have a question for you - how did you remove deep scretches, cobwebs before you started using a PC? Or am I correct assuming that you mostly work on top of the line cars nowadays?
