More details, more making my kid slave for me in the hot sun

2001 Infiniti I30. Pretty decent shape, clayed horizontal surfaces, removed some minor paint transfers with Scratch X, polished with Poorboy's Polish w/carnauba and polishing pad, waxed with EX-P.

2001 Nissan Pathfinder. Detailed it in March using the Wolfgang twins so paint was still in good shape. Polished this time with Vanilla Moose/polishing pad and topped with Wolfgang Sealant. I will be washing this one twice a month so I can see how WG holds up over VM.

Here is my son buffing the Pathfinder with Vanilla Moose and the Meguiars Polishing Pad. My son re-attached the handle saying it was easier that way....but look at how he is holding the PC

Needless to say, the handle is off again!

2003 GMC Yukon XL. The biggie! Needed some minor blemish removal, again with Scratch X (love that stuff!), polished with Vanilla Moose and polishing pad, topped with Poorboy's EX-P.

2003 Harley softail, regular customer. Wanted it detailed for an upcoming ride. It was pretty clean, so I went over it with Quikshine, then polished with Vanilla Moose and topped with Pinnacle Souveran.

The owner of this Z8 and 750 has them detailed twice a year. The Z8 is a daily driver, by the way. The 750 gets harder use since they take their dogs to the park in it.



Used Vanilla Moose with polishing pad and topped with EX-P on the Z8. Sorry the pics aren't great but the owner was out of town and his college age son was staying at the house, so no keys in the Z8 (keys were in the 750 though).

The 750 needed some deeper polishing so I used Meguiars #80 Speed Glaze with a polishing pad and topped with NXT and the finishing pad.

1996 Acura RL 3.5. I detail this one about once a year. Polished out a few paint transfers with Scratch X, polished with #80 Speed Glaze and topped with EX-P. Pic is a touch dark but the customer had to leave so I couldn't wait on the sun to clear the cloud in front of it.

A couple more pics of my son slaving away. This the 1999 single stage white Accord that I used AIO/NXT on in late January and when we were washing/polishing/waxing it this past Monday (June 7th), it was still beading and still has a nice glow to it in the first pic (Chris had just started buffing (Vanilla Moose) that side of the hood, the rest is the AIO/NXT).

Here he is waxing with Meguiars #16. Sorry, no whole car shots, the owner needed to leave before we could move it out and get some shots. Maybe in a week when I wash it again.

BTW, this was the sky about a week and a half ago. Yes, we did get some nasty storms that night!

You used a term I've not read before, and wonder what it is - paint transfer. Could you please describe for me?

Also love the shots of your 17 yr. old working along side learning the "trade". I'm hoping to get my 17 year old involved - any tips or suggestions?

norahcrv- a paint transfer is when another vehicle has bumped yours and left their paint on your vehicle. Garage frames are notorious for doing that also on SUV mirrors.



My son is here in the summer for 6-8 weeks depending on how many snow days they have to make up at the end of the year and how soon he needs to be back for football. Not enough time to get a conventional part time job and certainly not for the $8 per hour plus lunch I am paying him. He needs money though so even though he really only likes waxing, he is learning everything so he has money to take home.

What's with all the clouds and parking garages? I feel ya there, the weather here is like chances of rain every other day. Really sucks for us, especially when a sealant has to cure.



Still hopped up on the EX-P? I see you used NXT on that 750iL...that really came out of left field. Any particular reason? What made you pick up Scratch-X as well? Do you usually clay a lot?
