has this ***hole ever seen bodyshop work? Does he see how many true detailers on this site have to fix that bodyshop crap they call detail work. This guy is a total idiot....Notice how everyone on this website knows he is wrong, and he is the only one on the M5 website supporting him? Looks like he has no followers that believe him now that they know the truth...At least he is full of him self enough to make him go to sleep tonight....Forgive us Mr. M5 detailing God....we are not worthy :bow



I think the funniest thing he posted was his "sun shot" I see no sun reflecting in the picture...haha you want to see a true swirl free finish in the Sun!! here you go...take this picture tomorrow to prove us wrong.

Not only is the guy waaaay off base, he is just wrong.



I think it is hilarious that he claims the body shops do the professional work. Everyone around here *fixes* what the body shops ruin!!! There is not one body shop in the Memphis area that can produce a swirl free car, period.
 
Guys, he isn't worth the time. Someone will try his ideas and screw their car up and that will be the end of him. I worked in a body shop for years and now do mobile detailing; the quality of the work I see done by Autopians is 100x what we did at the shop. Also, he's going on and on about pics in the sun, please. A picture in a garage with the sun out isn't "in the sun". This is in the sun.

and yea....i held the buffer at 1400 rpm with "RUBBING COMPOUND" in 1 spot for 15 seconds IN THE SUN on a BLACK CAR....just to prove a point of how the PAINT WILL NOT BURN and 3M Rubbing compound doesn't make scratches. This shows that a novice can do this without hurting the car. New technology my friends, I am sure body shops don't want you to know how easy and safe this is!

4th..the picture of my car in the first page...come on..1/4 the car is in the shade...look at the shadows...what a moron.

5th..most professional products will give you the same results, not just 3M...thats correct...but 3M in my opinion is the safest

6th..I stated that.....BMW uses Glasurit Paint but does NOT have the same clear coat as the european cars. Due to the EPA crap, we have a "softer" clear coat due to a chemical in Europ's clear coat. So,,,we get more rock chips. IF your car get fixed or repainted,,,it's usualy 3M paint. I stand by my statement...I will put the 3M process w/P21s agains ANYTHING....if you have better I will try and switch, if it is better....It's a personal statement. Take the 3M stuff on an hold painted scrap with a foam pad and show me the burns....

This guy works out of his house and comes to yours to work on your car.....YIKES! One day if he listens to the Professionals with a body shop, he might be successful enough to hire a "wax of boy"."

He also called his splitter, that is a waste on the M5, a splinter... Look at your keyboard, he did not make a typo, he really called it a splinter.. Also, he thinks body shops are the only professionals because apparently he owns a few of them.
 
He still thinks 3M makes the paint for God's sake. I can't find anything that says 3M makes the paint. He spelled taught wrong(tought). I've noticed too that no one is really responding to his post. I hope the other folks on that board really visit this site and learn to do it the right way. I'd hate to ruin the paint on a $100K car and have to find that 3M paint!

Let me clarify people, that not all BMW owners are like this...There are always people like this in the world that make to much money and take too many short cuts in life hence creating a huge ego. I am involved in the BMW community in the Bay Area and this is not how they act what so ever. Even the new E60 m5 owners want to learn and consider themselfs humbled every time there shown how to correctly detail their car. This guy is just about as ignorant as people who say washing with only water is "better".





btw, my M3 is cosmos black...there is no such thing as "swirl free" like this guy claims. :wall

Well i saw the whole video.



He keeps claiming how it doesnt take off paint mean while when he was removing the buffer from teh car i saw a BLACK pad in the reflection, bahahaaha



the panels sure look smoother/cleaner but he fails to show us direct sun shots

He is an a noob, not even taping off parts
 
I got about half way through and stopped...once again there is no use of halogens or any sunlight...pure shade...dont even bother to download unless you want to see what a toolbag looks like.



I like the part where he puts his hand on the surface because he thinks "burning" the paint means it is going to get very hot and like start on fire....hmm someone should give this guy a paint thickness gauge :) Single Stage Lexus I believe because when he lifts the pad you can see black paint on his pad. What a great movie :LOLOL

The black on the pad is dirt. The paint wouldn't come off, the clearcoat would come off. It's not black paint on the pad. Looks like the door was not totally prepped clean....so dirt got on the pad. In addition the 3M rubbing compound is gray to begin with. There is no need to tape off parts when you are simply demonstrating a spot for a video.



I did not see any burns or scratches in the video. Towards the end of the movie, ook at the shadows and exposure in the door scene, it was done in the sun.

A few comments and a request if you would accomodate a modest sceptic...



You did demostrate as best my eye can tell from your video that you did not burn your paint, so I believe you have demonstrated your point in that regard (due caution noted for novices).



One of the hot topics regarding your process is that in the hands of us novices, that the rotary, if not used correctly, will still leave holograms and rotary swirls visible after the wax wears off. Also, I didn't see any obvious surface imperfections before your process started - it would have been instructive to see a before-and-after.



A request - if you have time, could you take "before" shots on the hood showing the reflection of the sun to indicate the original condition, then direct sun relection shots during the swirl removal and glazing process? Anything less than direct light reflection simply won't show surface imperfections IMHO, and this would help the debate!
 
There certainly is a lot of interest in this debate, and I have no stake in which side is right. But I just watched the video and he is convincing. :nixweiss Maybe this guy should be selling stuff on TV late at night.



His M5 sure does shine, though.
