It would sure be a shame for someone with that much money to be proven wrong by a bunch of people who love to detail cars :) What do we know...we're just using "girly" porter cables... :ignore



I think its funny how he is tired of people who dont know what they are talking about talk smack about him and his knowledge of detailing. What a joke...I feel bad for whoever's car he is going to detail tomorrow morning.



By the way: if anyone from the M5 forum is reading this, please....Join autopia and dont be afraid to ask questions as to how to properly detail your vehicle. We are in no way making fun of members on there who thought this guy was correct with his detail experience. Completely opposite we want to help you and save you from doing what this guy is praising. He is the one who we are bashing because of his ignorance... Please view the Click and Brag section to see what real detailers are using and their process along with pictures in the full sun. Any car can look good in the shade....I hope we encourage a few of you M5 members to join to give you real advise and help you make your car look great! Dont be fooled by this guy who thinks he knows everything...This thread wasnt started for the heck of it, it was because we as detailers hate to see when people pass out false information to others and tell them things that will harm their vehicle's paint just because they think they know everything because they have the $$ to try out every product.
 
I'd just look at it as a business oppertunity-

Time to get move from detailing to bodyshop work.... that's where the money will be in a few weeks. Might stop in the power tool business too. Being a hit man or bodyguard (depending on whose side you're own, I'll pick hitman) might bring in some $$$ too.



As a plus, after these guys burn their paint, there might be some cheap rotaries on the market for those who actually want to learn. After burning the paint on an M5, I'll bet the owners will pay someone to take ithe rotary off of their hands

I was just wondering the same thing. Black is soo unforgiving. I wait for the first call from a BMW owner who spent the "lifetime investment of $175".
 
Well I see it like this.



They can either halogram their own paint, or take their cars into the dealership and allow the porters to do it for them. Since BMW offers free service for the duration of the warranty on their vehicles, this is a free option for them. yay.
 
Ya know...after reading more about and thinking about it, this guy really hasn't done much. The paint is pretty much brand new anyhow. Wheres' the before and after pictures? My 02 GS300 looks better than his car and it was a mess before I got it.



Also, whats with the "$35us". Who adds US to the $$? His profile shows he's in the US, so why does he have to clarify US? Sounds like a 419 eater. (google it, you'll laugh).



His video at 11am tomorrow should be fun to watch. Hey Realtycar, make sure to tape the speed setting and the real time. (we know you're reading this!) Also put some real lights on it as suggested earlier. Micromarring and burning are both something that will show nicely with light. Anything less is just smoke and mirrors.



Oh... btw, "wash with water only..." what with that? Please read our forum and look for posts about Foam Guns. Washing with water only is going to introduce more scratches since there is no lubrication. Maybe that why you need to use a rotary on a new car.
 
I really do feel bad for all the other son that forum listening to his advice. I'm pretty curious myself though to see how his video turns out. Shame if he burns through the paint, esp if it's another owners car.
 
i dont own a rotary so i wouldnt know, but is it possible not to burn the paint by using only light pressure?

As far as I know, rotory does not spin in random orbitals, so if you leave it on one spot for a few seconds, you're already doing some sort of damage to the paint. This is why the PC is very forgiving. It doesn't stay in one spot, and continuously moves in circles.



I highly doubt he is going to post a video of the process. I read the whole thread and his grammar is at the level of a teenager.



If anything, he should take pictures of his car under halogen lights or under the sun so we can all see how his car really is.



Seems like a lot of members on there are following his advice. I hope no one goes through with it. It would be a tragedy.



Because the puffing pads are Foam and not wool, you can't burn the paint.

I seriously hope that an Autopia BMW owner signs up and gently puts this guys false expectations to rest.

But as for him, I can already tell he in narrow minded...



Amazing how he now claims Armor All wheel cleaner is the best and how he CHALLENGES anyone up against it.



He reminds me of a buddy in highschool that was real short and skinny, but no matter how many times he got knocked out, would challenge every varsity football player from oppsing teams to a slugmatch.
