Modified PC (for vibration absorption)

What is Cyclo???

Besides what themightytimmah posted, you might want to do a search on this one. I've posted Cyclo-positive posts for a long time. When I finally sent my never-maintained, 20 year old one in for service they said it didn't really need any repairs. Those 20 years included some serious abuse by my employees in a commercial environment too.

There are pros and cons (besides the price), and it's not the best tool for everyone, but it might be worth a little research.

What cons do you find on the Cyclo, Accumulator? I haven't really found any with mine, other then the price (you know what they say, good tools only make you cry once:xyxthumbs ).

When I first got it, I thought the single speed might be a problem, but it really hasn't. My PC never left 6 on the dial, and I've never really wanted a DA to be slower in any case  .

Its not a rotary, but I hear the new pads that are coming out come pretty close (BTW, when are those paint correction pads supposed to come out? I'm dyin for em, last week I caught myself looking at Makitas :buffing:)

Certain contours, such as a few spots on my XJS, are simply inaccessible with the Cyclo. With a PC, I can use a large pad and get the edge of it into these spots (and thus avoid having to do them by hand). And there are a few spots on other vehicles that I can do easier with a *single* 4" pad on a PC or the rotary.

I used the Cyclo quite happily for years until all the glowing reviews (not to say "hype" ;) ) prompted me to get a PC. I liked being able to get into the tight spots on the Jag, and I also like it better for AIO (the Cyclo makes it flash a bit too quick for my taste). But other than those two specific issues, I thought the PC was *highly* over-rated and not at all in the same class as the Cyclo.

I use my Cyclos a *LOT* more than the PCs and, unless you have the specific issues that I mentioned, I'd recommend a Cyclo over the PC any time. If you do have those issues, well, it's nice to have options and I find the rotary/Cyclo/PC trio to pretty well cover all the bases.

Heh heh, I got a second Cyclo because I like having them set up for different tasks. I *had* to buy a second PC because my older one needed rebuilding at an inconvenient time.

Best thing of all with the Cyclo (IMO) is that it's the sort of high-quality, user-friendly tool that I just *enjoy* using. The PC, and even the rotary, are just things I'll put up with to get a job done. Big difference; *enjoying* the work is worth a lot to me.

The coke bottle, curvy shape of my Elise is one thing that deterred me from getting a Cyclo. Seems like a 4" spot pad and the PC is a bit more convenient given that there almost isn't a flat spot on the entire car. Fair view?

Same here. Removing the handle and holding the PC by the head works great. In fact, to me, it seems the vibration is actually less at higher speeds.

Ditto , loose the handle . You'll notice a big difference.:xyxthumbs
