Minor scratches - pros needed.

Ok, i accidently dropped my Finesse-it bottle on my back bumper the other day and it left some pretty crappy scratches, they don't look too deep, and a friend who works for a bodyshop says they look like they can be buffed out. Below are links to them, they are very high quality so if you have a poor internet connection i would stay away, i took them at high quality so you can see how they are. What should i use? Thanks guys.



btw, there is another scratch pictured aswell that is on the hood of the car in the nostril.

Even with the pictures, there's not enough information to make specific recommendations.



For example, the pictures are high resolution, but they are such closeups that there is no sense of scale. What kind of car? What year? Factory paint, or repaint? Clearcoat? Are you working by hand, or with a da/rotary? How big a bottle of Finesse-It? (JK)



General advice always seems to be, start with something mild, if it doesn't work, try something stronger. What do you already have? Have you tried it? What happened?

Thanks for your response, i guess i should have been a bit more specific.



I don't have anything to repair it right now, i am doing research as of right now and i am looking into Mequirs Scratch X for both areas to start off with.



The car is a 2002 transam and it is new paint in both areas. The back bumper is where the series of small scratches reside. It was painted on March 27th 03 so i guess its pretty much cured by now. Its 2002 GM Electron Blue Metallic, painted with PPG





The front thin scratch is on the nose of the ram air hood and the entire front was repainted recently probably about July 26th. I am going to attempt this by hand unless the results fail in which case i will buy a machine to do so, hope you can further help based on the above info, thanks!
 
I would start with Meguiars Swirl Free or #9 Swirl Remover and go up in aggressiveness from there if that doesn't work.
 
What about Meguiar's Scratch X? I was thinking that than using Menzerna Intensive Polish on top of that and than Menzerna final polish. Hope that works, otherwise i have to go tougher!
 
Hm...why don't you try the Finesse-It? I would try the least agressive product first, like 3M SMR or #9 or the Menzerna FP. Then if you can't get them out, move up to a more agressive product like DACP or Intensive polish and if that still doesn't solve your problem, use the ScratchX. Always use the least agressive product and move up if necessary, then move back down to remove any haze you may have.

I'm pretty sure that something at the DACP level is stronger than Scratch-X, so I would try that first. Scratch-X doesn't seem that strong to me.
 
Sounds good, i think i'll try the Meguirs SWR first and see how that pans out, than move up accordingly, thank you.

I've always felt that ScratchX was a bit stronger than DACP. But then again, I haven't been using these products for very long. Live and learn... :)

Could be just another case of that pesky YMMV thing. ;)
