Minivan Nightmare Revisited

I think it was rather thoughtful of your family to give you a nice before and after project to show off.

I just did my wife's minivan on Friday because we were taking it to Jacksonville. I wasn't about to ride in it the way it was.:yikes:

To her credit it wasn't as bad as your's but that's because I get a hold of it now and then.;)

Nice job on the clean-up. :bigups I'm guessing you used a Poorboy's product or two?

What line of products did you use? :rofl

My wife's minivan gets that way too! The pictures of the place where the seats hook on are familiar. I'm amazed at the crap that gets in there! I often find Lego pieces wedged in there.

Looks like you are doing some hard work that is getting the floor really clean. Or is Pockets doing this work?! ;)

I listed the products used so far ...

1 bottle APC mixed 15:1 or so far 2oz of APC used
a couple bottles of hot water, use for spot spraying during extraction to loosen dirt and pull out the soap, and some Original Trim Restorer (pre-VOC)... this stuff was even better than the current version;)

I have no idea how so many crayons get into the runners let alone the sticky stuff:confused: ... what really got me was the totally melted crayon that I had to scrape out with a screwdriver  ..I got most of it but wasn't up to polishing those spots:(

No, there has not been a Pockets sighting since :idea... hmmm :hmmm:... a week ago :inspector: ...

That and you should post the procedure so we mortals know how to take care of something like this. :notme: :bow
well basically Ron, it went like this:

first I started pulling out all the large items, clothes, umbrellas, 10 bottles of water, books, tapes, pencils, crayons, box of stuff, 4 way lug wrench, snow sled, water float, sneakers, and a few unrecognizable items :passout:
then I vacuumed everything I could see or reach, then removed the rubber mats and vacuumed again, then I removed the carpeted mats and vacuumed some more :wall
that's when I saw all the stuff in the seat hold downs, and decided to pull out the seats :notme: ...well that just exposed more dirt and stains as well as the dirt around the plastic trim :wow: ... figuring that it would be easier to shampoo and vacuum with out the plastic pieces that were also filthy, I took out my drill with a phillips head attachment and unscrewed all the plastic pieces ... much more than I ever intended to do :passout: ...then came the APC mixture, hot water, a stiff nylon brush, and some arm and back power ...scrubbed the sh!t out of the carpet and extracted it inch by inch..then I did the seats the same way. Reversed the removal and put it all back together. Then went over the vinyl and trim with Trim Restorer and ran out of time as well as energy :passout: :surrender .... going back now as there are a few areas I need to go over again that i couldn't see and will scrub the rubber mats with APC in the sink. By then I will need a boo boo bus to take me away :D

That made me tired.

Isn't that the same grocery getter that Pockets supposedly detailed last summer? Looks like the kid missed a few spots, Steve! What th...?

yes, but last time we only had about 45 minutes to work with ..this was 4 hours so far :passout:

yes, it would be nice to do it more often, but it's not often that I can get the van away from her for that long .... I also get the urge if I have to go on a trip and have to sit in the van for more than 15 minutes ;)

Today I started with the rubber mats but I forgot a before pic before the APC was sprayed ....

did I also mention that the fork lift makes a great work shelf :D

one last interior shot... could have been better
but I could be younger and able to scrub longer and I could also have a wife who cared about this :D :passout:

thanks for looking everyone and Happy New Year :howdy

Still yet that is a BIG improvement:bigups I guess it just goes to show what we will do for our wife's :bonk:

Does your wife realize that you own a company that sells detailing supplies and that she/you have a image to uphold too. Dont show her this post because she will just get mad.

I just figured out that you did this so she didnt take your truck.

Smart man.

Incredible turn around on the inside of the van.

Ronkh beat me to this one, I agreed with what he said. Looks great Steve, bet it was alot of work...........

she doesn't look at it that way :notme: .. it's a van and she just drives it to spend the money the detailing supplies make :wall

Dang, that is a lot of work and a HUGH improvement! I'm impressed.

I think you have also saved me some dollars! I see that you mixed your APC 15:1. I have been doing it 1:1. I think I need to up my H2O!

thanks .. no need to use it full strength unless it's really bad ;)

Wow what an improvement. My girlfriends SUV is in the same condition and we don't have kids.:passout: She has tonns of stuff on the floor. I doubt she really knows what is in her truck at any one time. I keep telling her to leave it with me for a weekend to clean it up and get at least one layer of protection on it. Now my TBSS on the other hand I know exactly what's in it. In all honesty I could keep it a lot cleaner.
