Minimum size for detailing stall?

So what size do you think is the MINIMUM for a nice detailing stall? I am thinking about building one on to the garage and I am worried that the 12 ft width may not be kosher…? I am so use to having plenty of room (about 15 ft here and 18 ft at work to do my detailing that 12 may be little smallish? It will be 24 ft deep and I think that is a great size (what I have now) but I wanted to hear what you all thought?

More about the build here….>

If I had to build one myself, I'd make it 16x24, just to give myself plenty of depth and width. Nothing more annoying than being cramped!

I would say add 4-6 feet to the Length and width dimension of the largest car you will do....

PArking spots tend to be 10' x 20' sometimes 9' x 20'

SO based on that how about 15' x 25'.....nice round numbers....

thats what I was afraid of :(.. 12ft is about my max.:(

I did pretty much what you are thinking. My house came with the right side of the garage and I added on the left. The right side door is 16' the left side is about 10 or 12'. (I forget) I also brought the left side forward about 6' and backwards about 6'.

I came up with this for two reasons. The break in the front visually looks more appealing than just two huge doors staring at you. It allowed me to put in a window so it has more of a cottage look than a garage. (with a little imagination. :D) I also designed around the tree to keep as much foilage as possible.

I can put 4 cars side by side, end to end in the left side but rarely do. Instead I use this as my detailing area because you can open all the doors, pull the vac around easily, etc. I could never do that on the right side.

The one drawback I have is the drain is on the right side. So if I wash the car it has to be done on the right.

I like your plan and ANY extra space is welcome.
