Mini Cooper S (dark grey)

My second major detail job that isn't my car. This one was pretty bad as well. The paint felt like crap. It was totally rough from all the embedded contaminants. I still cringe when I think about it. I did this a while ago but just kept putting off posting it so I'll see if I remember everything. I had to clay bar this car for hours. I must have spent a solid 1-2 hr on just the rear hatch. The black paint areas on this car are weird. I'm suspicious if it's paint at all. It was pretty badly swirled and I got a lot of it out, but some of it wouldn't budge. Here's what I used/did:

Wash

-ABC Decon kit

-Clay bar

Exterior paint.

-OC w/ orange pad(might have used yellow too)

-OP w/ white pad

-Prime w/ grey pad

-JW AJ by hand

-Layered AJT

Exterior trim

-303 Protectant

Headlights

-Meguiar's Plastx w/ yellow pad

-Plexus plastic polish by hand

Interior

-Meguiar's Interior Quik Detailer

-303 Protectant

Windows

-Meguiar's NXT Window Cleaner

Sorry, no before pics. I had one showing the swirls but I forgot to take an after of the same area.

great job did u see any improvement after ajt?

Thanks. I usually apply 2 layers of AJT or 1 layer AJ then 1 layer AJT. It's hard for me to notice significant improvement after the 2nd layer. I'm still determining whether more layers gives more durability. AJ and AJT give a lot more depth and shine than KAIO + KSG IMO.

I like the work. Did you like how the Meg's Plastix worked on the clear plasic, as far as a specialiazed product did you find it worked better than a normal paint polish could have done?

Well done nice job.

They car would look 100% better without all the spotlights.

Thanks. The funny thing is, he bought the car used and wanted to take the light bar off, but didn't want to pay to have it done so he left it.

nice job on the MCS!

btw, the A pillars and side mirror covers (black) are made of plastic. I guess you can use PlasticX to get some of the swirls out.

Very nice detail! I'm not usually a big fan of the Minis, but this looks awesome. I especially like the massive row of lights on the front, very cool stuff!
