Migliore waxes-preliminary review

I received an e-mail from Donald, the CEO of Migliore Luxury Car Care offering me deep discounts/sponsorship to help expand interest in his products. I replied that while I was flattered, I could not get involved in a sponsorship and remain objective. In addition, it would completely change the way I would be allowed to post on autopia. He e-mailed me back saying he understood but still wanted to send me out a couple of samples to see what I thought. I let him know that samples were fine and as long as anyone receiving them is upfront about how they got the products, talking about them online is fine.

He sent me out their Original Paste Wax and Frutta Paste Wax in 4 oz sample size containers. I was somewhat suprised that they only sell "protective" products and no pre-wax cleaner or polish. Another suprise was the rather moderate pricing for what is advertised as a high end wax. Of course, that is a good suprise.

Both waxes have a scent that reminds me of those plastic erasers and the Frutta version has a citrus scent on top of the eraser smell. Not unpleasant but not like Souveran's incredible scent.

I tried the Frutta on the hood of a Lincoln MXK that I see about once a month and the rest of the time goes through touchless washes when the owner gets gas. I want to see how it holds up to less than autopian care. I also applied it to an Escalade that I see weekly. It was last sealed in April 2007 with Opti-Seal and ONR washed weekly since. While I doubt that OS lasted 15 months, the regular ONR washing has the paint still beading nicely.

I didn't get any instructions with the waxes, so I tried the wipe on/wipe off method and wipe on/wait/wipe off method. The latter works a lot better. Try to remove it too soon and you get smearing. Best results seemed to be applying to half the vehicle, go back and remove, and do the same for the other half. Frutta does not glide on like S100 or Souveran, it has a thicker feel to it, more like Natty's Blue or Meguiars #16. Overall, the application and removal is average. Not super easy but not real hard either. Slickness is average on initial application but after 30 minutes or so, the slickness does improve.

Overall, it has a warm carnauba glow, sort of like Meguiars #16 with added depth. Gives a really nice look to the Escalade. Oh yes, before anyone asks, I do hate cleaning those 18 spoke 22" wheels every single week.

Obviously, since I wash this vehicle with ONR, testing how long Frutta beads for will be difficult since ONR's polymers do aid beading. I will be monitoring how well the look holds up.

So are you saying that ONR adds protection and invalidates any durability testing?

I don't think it adds protection like a wax does but the polymers do keep the paint beading. I guess that invalidates the 8 months I got out of Zaino in your eyes, right? Seriously, why do you insist on beating a dead horse on this issue? I even posted a video showing how ONR causes beading on paint that hadn't been waxed in nearly two years.

I use my brother's van (tunnel washes) or customers cars I don't wash in between details for durability testing.

Maybe because you claim that carnauba waxes last 4 months in hot Houston;)

Oh really? You sure I made that claim about Houston? Better check a map and see where Arlington actually is.

Carnauba Moose does last 4-5 months on customer's cars that I only see when I detail. So does Meguiars #16. That includes the summer.

Wow Scott, that really makes that White pop! Is this a new product making it's way into the detailing world, or is it readily available? I would like to try it on the QX56... White is such a hard color to get looking like that...

I don't know how long Migliore has been around. The e-mail he sent me mentioned they are working on plan to distribute through an auto parts store. They also have a website that you can order through. From what I have found on the internet, the wax was developed by a fellow detailer. tdekany (Thomas) has also used it, found a thread with a video he made of the sheeting action on another forum. Maybe he can chime in on it, he definitely has used it longer than I have (no idea if he still does though) and maybe has an idea of the durability.

Wherever, Texas is big and hot in the summer.
